Cadence Design Systems Inc. is seeking a motivated Software Engineer II: Innovus R&D to join our team in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
You will design and develop algorithms for automated clock-tree synthesis in the Innovus tool, coding in C++ and Tcl within a distributed global team. The role requires a complete Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or related numerate discipline, strong C/C++/Java/C#/Rust programming, and solid English/Portuguese communication.

Member of the CTS team responsible for the design and development of new algorithms and technology in automated clock-tree synthesis in the Innovus place and route tool.
Develop code in C++ and Tcl within a distributed software development environment with other contributors from around the world.
Maintain and improve existing code to improve software scalability, reduce tool turn-around-time, and reduce memory footprint.
Debug customer issues and fix bugs to ensure software is functionally correct.
Build unit tests and run regressions to validate the functionality of the software being developed.
Test new algorithmic developments and associated software integration by executing the software on industrial test cases.
Complete Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another numerate discipline such as Physics or Mathematics.
Strong programming and software engineering experience in a C-like programing language (C/C++/Java/C#/Rust etc.).
Interest in software engineering: language features, data structures, design patterns, unit testing, automation tools.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese and a good team player.
Ability to meet stringent deadlines within a fast-paced work environment.
A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or Bachelor’s with at least 2 years of work experience in a comparable software engineering role.
Knowledge of algorithms and data structures in Computer Science, specifically in Electronic Design Automation (Placement, Routing, Clock Tree Synthesis, etc.).
Experience of a version control system (Perforce/Git etc.).
Knowledge of Linux command line tools.
Experience of using an agentic coding system (Claude Code, Github Copilot, etc) for development.
