About the Role:

We’re seeking a Senior Developer to join our remote team of engineers who maintain our main systems and microservices architecture. You will work on core Ruby on Rails applications that power our media network, used by millions across various industries.

We value technical skill and curiosity. English isn’t mandatory to start, as many engineers in Brazil collaborate in Portuguese and improve their English over time.

You can work remotely or in Curitiba, Brazil, with hours aligned to the PST time zone.

Who you are:

• Software Engineer with 5+ years of web development experience
• Experience in front-end and back-end development
• Automation enthusiast, avoiding repetitive tasks
• Self-managing and time-conscious
• Curious about technology and how things work
• Open to testing new ideas, even if they don’t work initially

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Optimize performance and quality of code
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks and bugs
• Maintain code quality, organization, and automation

Our stack includes:

• Frameworks: Rails, EmberJS, SolidJs, NestJS, Next.js
• Languages: Ruby, Python, Node.js
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis
• Tools: Linux, Chef, Docker, Memcached, Sidekiq, Git, SASS, HTML, CSS, AWS, Sinatra, Cloudflare

Required Skills:

• 5+ years in development
• Proficiency in Ruby (+ Rails) and at least one other language (Python, PHP, Node.js)
• Experience with relational databases
• Understanding of object-oriented programming
• Experience with configuration management tools like Chef or Puppet
• Knowledge of testing, refactoring, and writing clear, self-documenting code

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Node.js and Python
• Refactoring legacy code
• Experience with Ember.js, SolidJS, or similar JS frameworks

This is a remote contract position, with compensation based on hourly rate. Seniority and salary are determined via interview, experience, and market considerations.
