We build payment experiences that delight our Brazil customers with the world's best payment experience! We are in search of a talented technical leader and craftsman passionate and experienced in building intuitive customer-facing and highly scalable software.

Our team takes a global view of payments for all of Amazon yet builds highly customized and seamless payment experiences for our customers worldwide. This requires working on diverse technologies and backend platform systems to meet customer needs. Our backend systems are designed to be always available, ensuring that customer orders are never lost and always processed, even when downstream services face issues. You will have the opportunity to understand Amazon's entire retail and digital technology stacks and influence their development.

We seek an innovative, results-oriented Software Development Manager with a proven track record of successful delivery. You will enjoy working on complex, disparate technologies—from front-end to highly distributed back-end systems. You will provide strategic and tactical leadership to develop features and functionalities that deliver a best-in-class experience for our branded gift card customers. Your role includes leading a team through design, development, testing, and deployment, with a passion for creating simple, elegant, customer-centric solutions using agile processes.

A successful candidate will have a strong background in developing customer-facing experiences, excellent technical and project management skills, great communication, and a proven ability to grow and develop a team in a fast-paced environment. You should be a quick learner, independent worker, and capable of balancing technical leadership with sound business judgment.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Own the roadmap of services that enable faster payment experience delivery to customers.
  2. Document and present strategies to senior management.
  3. Manage and execute project plans and delivery commitments.
  4. Manage resources, hiring, mentoring, and maintaining a top-tier product development team.
  5. Collaborate with engineers and product managers to architect optimal technical designs.
  6. Report on development status, quality, operations, and system performance to leadership.

The tech leader will focus on mentoring team members, fostering collaboration, resolving roadblocks, and ensuring high-quality, timely software delivery. Effective communication and problem-solving are essential to drive successful projects within the Brazil payments ecosystem.

About The Team

The Brazil Payments Tech team develops payment experiences for retail businesses in Brazil. Our mission is to expand eCommerce payment coverage by supporting new payment methods and regulatory compliance projects related to payments in Brazil.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of engineering team management experience
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices across the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle, including coding standards, reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations
  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent
