Avalara Brasil is seeking a seasoned software engineer to help accelerate AI-enabled capabilities within our Brazil Returns team. You will build scalable backend and frontend systems for a cloud-based tax compliance platform, collaborating with global engineers and product teams.

You will apply AI responsibly, improve code quality, expand automated testing, and participate in CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS, delivering measurable outcomes while growing your impact over time.

Qualificações

• B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong English communication skills for global collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with .NET (C#) building scalable APIs and services.
• Experience with React (TypeScript) for frontend applications.
• Experience with distributed systems and RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Good knowledge of automated testing strategies.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience applying AI tools to improve software engineering workflows and measurable delivery outcomes.

What You'll Do

Avalara is accelerating the delivery of AI-enabled capabilities across our compliance platform to improve customer experience, increase engineering velocity, and scale global operations efficiently. As transaction volumes, product complexity, and AI-driven initiatives expand, we require engineers who can deliver high-quality software consistently and grow their scope of impact over time.

Engineers in this role will be embedded in the Brazil Returns engineering team, working directly on the Tax Compliance platform, a high-criticality, cloud-based solution that automates the generation and submission of Brazilian fiscal obligations on behalf of hundreds of Brazilian entities. The platform integrates with multiple ERP systems, consolidates fiscal, accounting, and transactional data, applies complex regulatory business rules, and assembles validated electronic files for submission to Brazilian tax authorities within strict fiscal calendar deadlines.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful
