Amazon Financial Technology Team is looking for a results-oriented, driven software development engineer to work in our Software Development Center in Sao Paulo, who can help us create the next generation of distributed, scalable financial systems. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes working with big data, and enjoys tackling complex business contexts often defined in real-time. We need someone to design and develop services that facilitate global financial transactions worth billions (USD) annually.

A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon works on real-world problems on a global scale, owns their systems end to end, and influences the direction of our technology that impacts hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. You can expect to design flexible and scalable solutions and work on some of the most complex challenges in large-scale computing by utilizing your skills in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. You will learn how to design, implement, and test highly scalable solutions using AWS cloud platform and its many products, in challenging agile projects, alongside top professionals.

Key job responsibilities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
2. 4+ years of software development engineering experience
3. Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles
4. Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
5. Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Java, C++, or C#
6. Fluency in English
7. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Proven track record of ownership and delivering results
2. Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the entire software development cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, and deployment
3. Ability to manage projects from requirements to launch
4. Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and management for requirements gathering, technical design, and strategy
5. Experience with AWS is a plus
6. Experience with financial or tax software implementation, support, and reporting
7. 3+ years of professional software development experience
8. 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture (patterns, reliability, scaling)
9. Experience programming in at least one software language
10. Full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, reviews, source control, build, testing, and operations
11. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
