Amazon Pay Brazil is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design and build scalable lending platform components for LATAM. You’ll own core services for underwriting, servicing, repayments, and compliance, delivering high availability and low latency in a regulated market.

You will work with cross-functional teams across product, legal, finance, and risk, ship production-ready code, and contribute to reusable libraries and platform patterns to scale the business in Brazil and beyond.

Qualificações

Do you want to design and build systems that power credit experiences for millions of customers in one of the world's largest and fastest-growing fintech markets? The Credit & Lending team at Amazon Pay is building Amazon's next-generation lending platform to enable seamless credit experiences for millions of customers across Latin America. We are looking for a strong Software Development Engineer to join our Brazil engineering team and build highly scalable, resilient lending systems from the ground up. This is a greenfield opportunity. You'll design and deliver critical components of the lending platform including underwriting, loan servicing, repayments, regulatory reporting, and customer-facing experiences. You'll work with latest fintech challenges: real-time decisioning, payment orchestration, compliance automation, and financial data integrity at scale. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants deep ownership, loves solving hard technical problems, and is energized by the ambiguity and pace of building something new in a regulated, high-stakes domain.

What You'll Do

• Design and build core services for the 1P Lending platform in Brazil—spanning underwriting, servicing, repayments, accounting, and compliance.
• Write high-quality, production-ready code for backend and Frontend services, with a focus on reliability, testability, and operational excellence.
• Own system architecture decisions for your area—API design, data modeling, event-driven flows, and integration patterns with internal and external partners.
• Build for compliance—implement systems that meet Brazilian financial regulations (Central Bank reporting, PIX, Open Finance) with auditability and data integrity baked in.
• Operate what you build—own monitoring, alarming, on-call, and incident response for your services. Drive high availability and low-latency targets.
• Solve ambiguous problems—break down complex business and regulatory requirements into clean, extensible technical solutions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally—work closely with product, finance, tax, risk, legal, and partner integration teams to translate requirements into working systems.
• Contribute to platform reuse—build shared libraries, frameworks, and architectural patterns that enable scaling across LATAM markets.
• Raise the bar—participate actively in code reviews, design reviews, and hiring. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team culture.

Key job responsibilities

• Integrate new payment methods (e.g. local credit/debit cards, digital wallets, bank transfers) into the Amazon platform
• Enhance existing payment flows to optimize conversion, reduce friction, and improve reliability
• Ensure payment systems are highly available, secure, and able to handle growing transaction volumes
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to maintain quality
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical debt

A day in the life

Own a critical product pillar of the 1P Lending platform in Brazil (define the product vision, technical strategy, and execution roadmap.

Work with a team of 7-8 SDEs, setting a high bar for engineering excellence, code quality, operational rigor, and customer obsession.

Be an engineering voice on the ground, driving local execution while staying tightly connected to the broader LATAM and global platform teams.

Design and build highly scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems for real-time underwriting, loan servicing, repayments, accounting, and compliance.

Drive technical decisions on architecture, API design, data modeling, and system integration with internal services and external financial partners.

Navigate regulatory and compliance complexity—partner with legal, finance, tax, and risk teams to build technology that meets Brazilian financial regulations (Central Bank, PIX, Open Finance).

Establish operational excellence—own system availability, latency, monitoring, alarming, on-call processes, and incident management for your product area.

Influence the broader platform by contributing reusable components, shared libraries, and cross-market architectural patterns.

The Brazil Payments team is responsible for enabling a wide range of payment options for Amazon customers in Brazil. We work to continuously improve the payment experience, increase conversion, and support the growth of Amazon's business in the region. Our team is known for its technical expertise, customer-obsession, and ability to deliver innovative payment solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
