THE WORK

• Lead the design and development of new and existing systems, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders.
• Set and share best practices across the team, creating standards proactively.
• Recommend and implement new technologies to meet business goals and optimize systems.
• Make trade-offs between immediate and long-term needs while guiding technical direction.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues using logs, metrics, and performance data.
• Review and improve code, system design, and processes to boost efficiency.
• Contribute to team strategy and planning, collaborating on cross-team projects and prototypes.

NEEDED EXPERTISE

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Elixir/Phoenix in production.
• 10+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems.
• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices, including CI/CD, 12-factor apps, unit testing, design patterns, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience building complex web systems.
• Experience integrating with third-party systems like Stripe, POS systems, or logistics APIs.
• Solid troubleshooting, performance tuning, and debugging skills.
• Bonus: familiarity with tools like Kubernetes, DataDog, or Honeybadger, or your preferred tools.
