Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of new and existing systems, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders.
• Set and promote best practices across the team, establishing standards when necessary.
• Recommend and implement new technologies to achieve business objectives and optimize systems.
• Balance immediate and long-term business needs while guiding technical direction.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues by analyzing logs, metrics, and performance data.
• Review and enhance code, system design, and development processes to improve efficiency.
• Contribute to team strategy and planning, collaborating on cross-team projects and prototypes.

Required Expertise

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Elixir/Phoenix in production environments.
• 10+ years of experience in building and scaling backend systems across various environments.
• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices, including CI/CD, 12-factor apps, unit testing, design patterns, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience in developing complex web systems.
• Experience integrating with third-party systems like Stripe, POS, or logistics APIs.
• Solid troubleshooting, performance tuning, and debugging skills.
• Bonus: familiarity with tools like Kubernetes, DataDog, Honeybadger, or personal preferred tools.
