Wiley is seeking a Software Engineer with strong front-end expertise to design and build modern, accessible learning and assessment experiences. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality features that scale for users worldwide.

You’ll own features end-to-end, work with AI-assisted tooling, and contribute to a culture that values exceptional user experiences and robust engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advanced proficiency building modern web applications with React, JavaScript/JS, TypeScript/TS, HTML, and CSS.
  • 2+ years of experience with back-end tech such as .NET/C# or similar server-side frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud and container technologies such as AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with relational or document databases such as MySQL, MongoDB.
  • 1+ year of experience in DevOps practices, including deployment automation, monitoring, or infrastructure support
  • Intermediate proficiency with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, cloud architectures.
  • Advanced English communication skills for international collaboration.

About the Role:

Join our Assessments team, responsible for products such as ®The Leadership Challenge and ®Everything DiSC, as a Software Engineer with strong front-end expertise. In this role, you will help build engaging, accessible, and scalable digital learning and assessment experiences that support learners around the world and turn complex problems into intuitive solutions. You will work closely with product managers, designers, architects, and engineers to deliver high-quality features that improve the learner and customer experience. This role reports to an Engineering Manager within the Assessments Technology organization. You will also have opportunities to influence technical decisions, support product direction, and contribute to the future of educational technology.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and build modern, responsive user experiences using React and contemporary front-end development practices.
  • Create intuitive, accessible, and high-performing interfaces that delight learners and customers.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to transform ideas into impactful features.

Required Qualifications:

  • Intermediate proficiency with modern engineering tools and practices such as GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-based architectures.
  • Strong working knowledge of high-quality development practices, including unit testing, automated testing, code reviews, and coding standards.
  • Familiarity using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, or delivery speed.
  • Advanced communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Advanced ability to translate business requirements and user needs into clear technical solutions.
  • Strong commitment to creating exceptional user experiences and solving customer problems through thoughtful design and engineering.
  • Intermediate proficiency working in Agile environments and partnering closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with an international team.
