Job summary

Brunel is seeking a Senior Drilling Supervisor (SDSV) for a 1-year contract offshore Brazil on a 28x28 rotation. Open to expats, the role requires valid IWCF/Supervisor level, CBSP, and Jack-Up experience, with a track record of safe, efficient wells in complex environments.

The SDSV will lead rig operations, coordinate with onshore, manage third-party crews, and mentor the offshore team, ensuring compliance with ANP/IBAMA standards while driving performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • IWCF Surface Well Control certificate (Supervisor level).
  • CBSP certification; required prior offshore work.
  • Offshore medical fitness certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or related).
  • Oilfield drilling and completions experience.
  • Recent Jack-Up experience.
  • Experience with Open Hole Gravel Pack operations preferred.
  • Experience drilling Horizontal wells preferred.
  • Proven track record delivering safe, efficient wells in complex environments.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and prioritize daily rig site activities per approved well program, safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and issue daily written instructions for rig operations.
  • Chair daily operations meetings and morning telecon calls with onshore team.
  • Manage third-party service personnel and ensure contractual scope is met.
  • Collaborate with drilling contractor to achieve optimum rig performance and address shortfalls.
  • Coordinate logistics to ensure timely arrival/departure of personnel and equipment.
  • Verify records of daily work and ensure DDR accuracy and timely issuance.
  • Mentor offshore Company team including NDSV and Wellsite Engineer.
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure regulatory compliance (ANP, IBAMA).
  • Identify opportunities to reduce flat time and non-productive activities; track improvements.
  • Drive performance benchmarking and address underperformance in real time.
  • Coordinate weekly offshore HSE meetings and track CAR actions.
  • Provide operational input to drilling engineering during well design and DWOPs.
  • Support end-of-well reporting and After Action Reviews.

Job description

Brunel is seeking a Senior Drilling Supervisor (SDSV) to work in a 1-year contract through Brunel with one of our clients, a big company within the oil and gas industry. This position will work in a 28x28 days rotation, offshore in Brazil.

This position is open for expats.

Key responsabilities:

  • Direct and prioritize all daily rig site activities to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with the approved well program, safely, efficiently and without harm to people or the environment.
  • Prepare and issue daily written instructions for all rig site operations, well in advance of the activity being performed.
  • Chair daily operations team meetings at the rig site and conduct morning teleconference calls with the onshore team.
  • Manage all third-party service company personnel for rig site operations; drive performance and hold service companies accountable to their contracted scope.
  • Work collaboratively with the drilling contractor to achieve optimum rig performance; address any performance shortfalls in a timely manner.
  • Schedule and coordinate logistics within the SDSV's area of responsibility to ensure timely arrival and departure of personnel and equipment, taking into account weather conditions.
  • Verify all records of daily work performance and ensure the DDR is accurate, complete and issued on time.
  • Mentor and develop the offshore Company technical team including the NDSV and Wellsite Engineer.
  • Maintain familiarity with all Company emergency response and incident reporting procedures; lead incident investigations as required.
  • Ensure all rig site activities are conducted in compliance with Company standards, policies, approved procedures and applicable Brazilian regulatory requirements (ANP, IBAMA).
  • Proactively identify and map opportunities to reduce flat time, NPT and non-productive activities; develop and track improvement actions with the rig team to push operations toward best-in-basin performance.
  • Drive performance improvement and benchmarking for all operations; ensure planned vs actual comparisons are referenced for each hole section and that underperformance is challenged and addressed in real time.
  • Manage and coordinate the weekly offshore HSE meeting; ensure all CAR actions, environmental/waste management items and contractor HSE plan tracking are reviewed.
  • Provide operational expertise and input to the drilling engineering function during well design and program generation, DWOPs etc.
  • Support end of well reporting and After Action Reviews.

Requirements:

  • Valid IWCF Surface Well Control certificate (Supervisor level).
  • Valid CBSP (Brazilian offshore safety training). Will be required prior work offshore.
  • Valid offshore medical fitness certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or related discipline) preferred. Equivalent demonstrated technical competency considered in lieu of formal degree where supported by experience record.
  • Oilfield drilling and completions experience.
  • Recent relevant Jack-Up experience.
  • Experience with Open Hole Gravel Pack operations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience drilling Horizontal wells is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering safe, efficient wells in complex environments
