Job summary

ADP is seeking a Senior Developer - WFS in a hybrid Porto Alegre, Brazil office. You will design, develop, and test backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring, collaborating with a US-based team across Engineering, Product, and QA to deliver scalable solutions.

You will own features from requirements through production, contribute to architectural decisions, and continuously improve practices and tooling.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise applications with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience designing, building, integrating, and maintaining REST APIs.
• Understanding of API design, backend architecture and patterns.
• Experience with unit testing, code reviews, debugging and production-grade software.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

ADP is hiring a Senior Developer - WFS

You will start your day on a scrum call to sync up the sprint work and goal with your team. You will spend most of your day designing, developing and testing your code and supporting your team members. You will be able to deploy your code in production using automated continuous integration and continuous deployment.

You will work with product managers, analysts, architects, and engineers to plan, design, develop, test, and implement information technology solutions.

Location and work model:

Hybrid work model, with an office located in Porto Alegre/RS -Brazil.

• The work model adopted by ADP is office-based/in-person, with the possibility of working from home up to two times a week. According to current policy.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Work closely on a daily basis with a US-based team, collaborating across Engineering, Product, and Quality Assurance to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Build a strong understanding of existing applications, services, and architecture, documenting key knowledge and using it to improve and evolve our solutions.
• Analyze existing systems, identify technical gaps and improvement opportunities, and propose pragmatic solutions that balance quality, maintainability, and delivery.
• Take ownership of features and technical solutions from requirements and design through implementation, testing, and production support.
• Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions, ensuring solutions align with established engineering standards and practices.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and help improve the overall quality and reliability of our software.
• Continuously explore new technologies and approaches that can improve our products and engineering practices.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

• Strong hands‑on experience developing enterprise applications with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Strong experience designing, building, integrating, and maintaining REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of API design, backend architecture, integration patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with unit testing, code reviews, debugging, and building maintainable, production‑quality software.
• Ability to analyze complex existing systems, understand unfamiliar code and architectures, and translate that knowledge into improvements.
• Strong technical analysis and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and recommend practical solutions.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and operate with limited supervision after the initial learning period.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a geographically distributed team.
• Comfortable communicating in English on a daily basis with a US‑based team, including technical discussions, design decisions, and problem solving.
• A continuous‑learning mindset and willingness to share knowledge, document solutions, and help other team members grow.

• Experience modernizing or improving existing applications, APIs, and backend architectures.
• Experience working with complex enterprise systems and building knowledge from existing implementations where documentation may be limited.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience supporting production applications and diagnosing complex technical issues.
• Experience with cloud‑based applications, distributed systems, or microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with Generative AI tools and their practical application in software development, such as accelerating development, understanding existing code, troubleshooting, testing, or improving developer productivity.
