We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with Golang experience.

This position is remote.

The candidate will manage various areas of our backend platform, including API integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners.

As a Backend Engineer in our User Tribe, you will play a key role in making it easier for users to access Rain and build products that help maintain positive cash availability.

You will collaborate with our international product and engineering teams to manage a digital wallet that enables seamless transactions and employer linking.

Our ideal candidate is excited to tackle technical challenges and contribute to strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into technical solutions, recommend approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet targets.
• Design and implement reliable systems in a distributed micro-services architecture.
• Build and maintain integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners.
• Design and implement highly available RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
• Create reusable code and libraries to foster collaboration and scalability.
• Enforce observability best practices using logging, metrics, and alerting systems.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture, APIs, workflows, and configurations.
• Monitor systems for performance and scalability improvements.
• Communicate effectively across teams to align priorities and requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Go/Golang, Java, Python, and C++.
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and optimization.
• Experience building reliable, scalable user-facing applications.
• Proficiency in distributed systems, microservices, performance, and scalability.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, ECS.
• Ability to own projects and drive initiatives independently.
• Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD tools like Gitlab CI and Github Actions.
• Knowledge of message queuing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Flink.
