Position Overview

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with experience in Golang. This is a remote position.

The candidate will manage various areas of our backend platform, including API integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners. As a Backend Engineer with our User Tribe, you will play a central role in making it easier for users to access Rain and build products that help maintain positive cash availability.

You will collaborate with our international product and engineering teams to manage a robust digital wallet enabling seamless transactions and employer linking.

Responsibilities

1. Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions, recommend approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet targets.
2. Design and implement reliable systems in a distributed micro-services architecture.
3. Build and maintain integrations with third-party vendors and partners.
4. Design and implement highly available RESTful APIs for web and mobile apps.
5. Create reusable code and libraries to foster collaboration and scalability.
6. Enforce observability practices using logging, metrics, and alerting systems.
7. Maintain detailed technical documentation for architectures, APIs, workflows, and configurations.
8. Monitor systems for performance and scalability improvements.
9. Ensure effective cross-team communication to align priorities and requirements.

Qualifications

1. 5+ years of software development experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
3. Proficiency in back-end languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
4. Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
5. Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
6. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
7. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
8. Experience with message queuing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Flink.
9. Effective release management skills to ensure zero downtime.
10. Familiarity with agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
