Job Description

Rain is the fastest-growing earned wage access (EWA) fintech in the U.S., serving 2.5 million employees and backed by top investors like QED and Prosus. We have raised nearly $400M in funding—including the largest Series A in fintech history—and just closed our Series B to fuel our next stage of hypergrowth.

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with Golang experience. This position is remote. The candidate will manage various areas of our backend platform, including API integrations with third-party vendors and partners.

As a Backend Engineer with our User Tribe, you will play a central role in making it easier for users to access Rain and build products that help users maintain positive cash availability. You will work with our international product and engineering teams to manage a robust digital wallet that enables seamless transactions and employer linking.

Responsibilities

1. Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions, recommend alternatives, and lead engineering efforts to meet targets.
2. Design and implement reliable systems within a distributed micro-services architecture.
3. Build and maintain integrations with third-party vendors and partners.
4. Design and implement highly available RESTful APIs supporting web and mobile applications.
5. Create reusable code and libraries to foster collaboration and scalability.
6. Enforce observability best practices with logging, metrics, and alerting systems.
7. Maintain detailed technical documentation.
8. Monitor systems for performance and scalability improvements.
9. Ensure effective cross-team communication and collaboration throughout the development lifecycle.

Skills and Qualifications

1. 5+ years of software development experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
3. Proficiency in back-end languages such as Go, Java, Python, C++.
4. Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
5. Experience building scalable distributed systems and microservices.
6. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, ECS.
7. Strong ownership and proactive problem-solving skills.
8. Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD frameworks.
9. Knowledge of message queuing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, Flink.
