Come Make an Impact on Millions of Brazilians!
At RecargaPay, we’re on a mission to deliver the best payment experience for Brazilian consumers and small businesses, by building a powerful digital ecosystem where the banked and unbanked connect, and where consumers and merchants have a one-stop shop for all their financial needs.
We serve over 10 million users and process more than USD 4 billion annually. We’ve been profitable since 2022 and operate our own credit business. We are an AI-first, 100% remote team, scaling in the rapidly changing Brazilian financial market.
Our goal? Deliver the best payment experience in Brazil for people and small businesses alike.
We value autonomy, ownership, and a bias for action. We’re looking for people who are curious, hands-on, and driven by impact, who want to solve real problems, work with strong teams, and rethink what’s possible.
If you’re ready to do your best work, at scale, with purpose, this is your place.
Responsibilities
As SAP & Corporate Systems Tech Lead, you will be the founding hands‑on technical leader for RecargaPay’s SAP and Corporate Systems capability. You will be responsible for the stability, evolution, integration, and technical governance of our SAP S/4HANA platform and the surrounding ecosystem of corporate applications across Finance, HR, Legal, Audit, Compliance, and Procurement.
This is a founding role. You will help build RecargaPay’s internal SAP and Corporate Systems technical capability from the ground up, reducing dependency on external partners, creating governance standards, and establishing the operating model required to support a regulated, fast‑growing fintech.
You will work in close partnership with the squad's Product Owner, who owns product direction, business stakeholder management, vendor relationships, and RFI/RFP processes. Your role is to lead the technical execution of the roadmap, establish engineering and governance standards for SAP and Corporate Systems, and ensure that every change is observable, auditable, secure, and aligned with applicable regulatory frameworks such as BACEN, LGPD, Brazilian fiscal requirements, and SOX where applicable.
This is a deeply hands‑on role. You are expected to stay close to the system and the team: reviewing and validating configurations, leading version upgrades and module updates, applying SAP Notes related to fiscal, legal, and regulatory changes, debugging production incidents, tuning HANA performance, governing transports, and pairing with Basis engineers, Functional Specialists, implementation partners, and internal engineering teams when needed.
Your leadership is exercised through proximity to the team: leading by example, reviewing configurations and changes, and acting as Tier 3 escalation for the most complex incidents. You are the primary technical reference of the squad and the main technical interface with Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, internal Specialists, and external implementation partners.
Champion a “clean-core / SAP-Minimalist” strategy, ensuring that S/4HANA remains as standard and maintainable as possible by prioritizing API‑first integrations, avoiding unnecessary customizations, and moving non‑core or highly variable business logic to external automation and orchestration layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the hands‑on technical execution of the squad's roadmap in partnership with the Product Owner, ensuring delivery quality, operational continuity, compliance and regulatory alignment, and sustainable technical decisions across SAP and the broader Corporate Systems landscape.
- Own the technical governance and evolution of the SAP S/4HANA landscape end to end, taking action as required, including custom code strategy, development standards, release upgrades and their custom code adaptation, SAP Notes lifecycle, environment strategy, and coordination with the Basis Specialist and external partners for platform activities.
- Lead, hands‑on, the design, development, and review of ABAP solutions on S/4HANA, including enhancements (BAdIs, enhancement spots), CDS views, AMDP, RAP‑based services, OData services for Fiori, forms, background jobs, and interfaces, setting the quality bar through ATC, ABAP Unit, code review, and performance analysis.
- Own the technical architecture of the Corporate Systems ecosystem beyond SAP, including HRIS, Legal Tech, GRC, Procurement, Finance, Compliance, and workflow / automation platforms, ensuring a cohesive, secure, and auditable stack, while the Product Owner leads vendor selection, RFI/RFP, and contract governance.
- Define and implement the SAP and Corporate Systems operating model, including demand intake, prioritization criteria, ownership boundaries, support model, escalation paths, governance forums, change and release management, development and documentation standards, and lifecycle management.
- Define operational health indicators for SAP and Corporate Systems, including availability, job failures, interface errors, transport and code quality, incident recurrence, audit findings, SLA adherence, and business‑impacting failures.
- Define integration patterns between SAP and the broader corporate ecosystem, prioritizing API‑first, event‑driven where applicable, secure, auditable, and loosely coupled architectures, and owning the technical design of integrations across SAP, SaaS platforms, internal services, and automation layers.
- Lead, hands‑on, the adaptation of the SAP platform to fiscal, legal, and regulatory updates impacting Brazil and LATAM, including SAP Notes implementation with code adjustments, custom code impact analysis, localization extensions, master data impacts, and coordination with the Functional Specialist for the modules currently in scope.
- Govern the technical side of change management across SAP and Corporate Systems, including STMS and ChaRM (Solution Manager 7.2 or SAP Cloud ALM) for SAP, and version control, code review, and deployment practices for non‑SAP assets, ensuring safe and traceable changes across environments.
- Oversee, together with the Basis Specialist and partners, the SAP platform operational practices that affect application reliability, including transport landscape health, background job strategy, interface monitoring, and upgrade readiness, ensuring that internal teams and partners follow reliable and auditable standards.
- Define and enforce security baselines for SAP and Corporate Systems in partnership with Security and GRC, including secure coding practices, authorization design in custom objects, user lifecycle, SoD principles, SSO, audit logs, API security, and secrets management aligned with LGPD, BACEN, and SOX where applicable.
- Establish master data governance practices for critical SAP and corporate objects such as Business Partner, chart of accounts, cost centers, legal entities, vendors, employees, tax data, approval hierarchies, and authorization‑relevant attributes, including their consistency across SAP and non‑SAP systems.
- Champion the “SAP‑Minimalist” and clean‑core strategy, keeping the S/4HANA core clean by favoring released APIs and extensibility over modifications, prioritizing API exposure, and shifting non‑core business logic to external automation or orchestration layers built with sound software engineering practices.
- Run technical rituals for the squad: design sessions, code and architecture reviews, change advisory boards, post‑mortems, patch planning, and tech debt grooming.
- Act as the internal technical authority for SAP and Corporate Systems, reviewing solution designs, estimates, code, configurations, transports, integrations, security impacts, documentation, and production readiness for work delivered by internal teams or external implementation partners.
- Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of complex production incidents across SAP and corporate platforms, serving as Tier 3 escalation, debugging SAP standard and custom code where needed, and ensuring durable corrective actions.
- Promote responsible use of AI‑assisted engineering tools (Claude Code, Copilot, or similar) for coding, code review, test generation, scripting, log analysis, runbook generation, and documentation, ensuring outputs are validated before production or audit‑relevant use.
- Define team objectives and contribute to technical goals, ensuring alignment with the company's broader strategies and objectives.
- Facilitate communication within the squad and across technical and non‑technical teams, ensuring alignment and timely delivery of high‑quality outcomes.
- Actively participate in the recruitment, training, and development of team members, fostering a productive and growth‑oriented environment.
- Collaborate with other Tech Leads, aligning technology strategies and contributing to the evolution of the company's technical direction.
- Guide conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration in your team.
- Lead retrospectives and continuous improvement efforts, driving team evolution through feedback and actionable insights.
- Support team staffing decisions by matching people to tasks based on skills, priorities, and development opportunities.
- Support the definition and follow‑up of individual development goals aligned with team objectives and business priorities.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical experience in software engineering and SAP development.
- Strong software engineering foundation beyond SAP, including system design, API design (REST, events, webhooks), data modeling, integration architecture, version control (Git), code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability, with the ability to apply these practices to both SAP and non‑SAP corporate systems.
- Solid hands‑on ABAP development experience on productive SAP S/4HANA landscapes, including ABAP OO, enhancement framework (BAdIs, enhancement spots, implicit enhancements), CDS views, AMDP, RAP, OData services for Fiori, ABAP Unit, ATC, and performance analysis (SQL Monitor, ST05, SAT, code pushdown to HANA).
- Experience with S/4HANA release upgrades from the development side, including custom code impact analysis (ATC, Simplification Items, Custom Code Migration), SPDD/SPAU adjustments, remediation of obsolete objects, and regression support.
- Strong understanding of SAP clean‑core principles, extensibility patterns (in‑app, developer, side‑by‑side), API‑first integration, and the trade‑offs between standard configuration, custom development, BTP extensions, integration middleware, and external automation or orchestration layers.
- Experience designing, building, or technically governing corporate systems beyond SAP, such as HRIS, Legal Tech, GRC, Procurement, Finance, Compliance, or workflow / automation platforms, including SaaS integration, API consumption, data flows, and vendor technical governance.
