About the Role

At HumanIT, we are currently seeking a Principal Database Administrator with deep expertise in MS SQL Server and a strong focus on performance, availability, and security. You'll be joining a high-performing team responsible for mission-critical data systems, working on complex architectures involving high-availability configurations (Availability Groups), and cloud environments.

This is a hands-on, senior-level role ideal for someone who combines deep technical knowledge with a proactive and collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end support for MS SQL Server environments, including monitoring, patching, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting
• Maintain and optimize high-availability configurations (e.g., Availability Groups, Always On)
• Analyze and resolve complex performance and availability issues through in-depth diagnostics and root cause analysis
• Lead database maintenance tasks such as index tuning, job automation, and capacity planning
• Apply best practices for database security, resilience, and compliance, including incident response
• Contribute to cloud database strategies, ensuring scalability and performance on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Bring value to cross-functional projects with knowledge of alternative databases (e.g., MongoDB, CockroachDB, PostgreSQL)
• Support and mentor junior DBAs and collaborate with engineers and architects on long-term improvements

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server in production environments
• Strong knowledge of Availability Groups, Replication, Backup/Restore, and Monitoring
• Proven ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks and resolve production issues efficiently
• Experience with alternative databases such as MongoDB, CockroachDB, or PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with cloud database environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2 or higher)
• A proactive, structured mindset with a passion for high-quality data operations
• Desire to share knowledge and support less experienced team members
