Hatch seeks a piping design engineer to layout complex plant and piping systems using 3D CAD tools, perform clash detection, and model existing structures. You will ensure drawings meet Hatch quality standards and coordinate with other disciplines for timely project delivery.

Essential skills include piping design, 2D/3D CAD proficiency, isometrics, and PFDs/P&IDs with site experience. The role involves mentoring junior staff and contributing to multidisciplinary projects in a global engineering

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Adhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety culture
• Layout complex plant and piping systems using 3D modeling design tools
• Perform clash detection of models and other disciplines models and coordinate actions and closeout
• Model existing structures, plant and equipment
• Ensure all drawings, 2D extractions and piping deliverables are checked to comply with Hatch quality standards Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and project procedures for all design activities
• In conjunction with engineering staff, prepare design concepts for internal and client reviews
• Develop and check engineering design details and special items drawings
• Prepare a list of design deliverables and time based functions to facilitate the planning and control of the piping budget
• Perform design for piping/mechanical plant models using project specifications/procedures and applying industry best practice
• Use vendor drawings and information sheets to develop and check the model
• Coordinate and verify piping Material Take Offs (MTOs)
• Ensure coordination with designers and engineers of other disciplines
• Train and mentor junior and intermediate designers and provide guidance on Hatch standards and quality requirements
• Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures
• Participate in the selection of piping design candidates
• Extract stress sketches
• Coordinate pipe support design including special pipe supports with piping stress analyst input
• Support the application of piping systems to achieve the best project outcomes
• Extract and check ISOs
• Produce piping General Arrangement (GA) and equipment location drawings
• Provide input to proposals and man-hour estimates
• Assist in the resolution of piping design issues during project lifecycle, including planning phase, design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning
• Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of piping work.

You bring to the role: Essential:

• Sound design and modeling skills for plant layout, piping design and detailing

• Experience with multidisciplinary coordination
• Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD systems

• Sound working knowledge of design systems and workflows as they relate to the piping discipline Thorough understanding of PFDs and P&IDs
• Site experience in a piping technical role.

Preferred:

• Experience within a large project, multidisciplinary EPCM environment
• Knowledge of laser scanning applications and techniques
• Strong client focus
• Good leadership skills
• Experience in mentoring and supervising designers
• Strong ability to delegate tasks and promote the effective performance of team members.
• Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
