Moravian Academy seeks a motivated, dynamic, and innovative part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) science teacher for the 2025-26 school year at the upper school on the Merle-Smith Campus. This position has the possibility of expanding to a full-time position pending student enrollment. Discover more about who our employees are and what we offer them.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and deliver two courses within the Science department, including general Chemistry. In case of position expansion, additional capability to teach physical sciences, engineering, and robotics, or to facilitate a makerspace, would be beneficial.
  • Support and further enhance the department's high expectations for academic performance, intellectual inquiry, and personal growth for all students in each course;
  • Facilitate hands-on exploration, student collaboration, and problem solving; integrate student-centered pedagogical practices into the curriculum;
  • Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
  • Assess and provide feedback to students and parents during comment and grading periods.
  • Participate in professional collaboration and development, including department meetings and divisional faculty meetings.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in the sciences; a Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a previous background in independent schools or similar college-preparatory programs.
  • Proficiency in digital educational technologies.
  • Experience with Google Workspace for Education (preferred)
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.
