Hatch is seeking a Mineral Process Engineer to join our metals team in Brazil. You’ll lead process engineering tasks for minerals processing projects, defining criteria, flowsheets and equipment sizing, while mentoring junior staff and engaging with clients.

The role requires deep expertise in minerals processing, strong leadership and a collaborative approach to deliver safe, innovative solutions on greenfield and brownfield facilities.

Qualificações

  • Chemical or metallurgical engineering degree required.
  • 8–10 years of relevant experience in minerals processing.
  • Extensive design, commissioning and/or operations experience with minerals processing equipment.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform process engineering tasks on Minerals Processing projects; act as Lead Process Engineer when needed.
  • Develop process criteria, block flows, mass and energy balances and P&IDs.
  • Size equipment, prepare datasheets and process descriptions.
  • Define process control logic and safety-compliant documentation.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and liaise with clients to capture requirements.
  • Lead on-site commissioning and contribute to proposals and business development.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Perform process engineering tasks on Minerals Processing projects, in a variety of commodities. When requested, act as Lead Process Engineer on projects or studies.
  • Operate with full competence and independence in the execution of all design calculations, design criteria, in the compilation and execution of equipment lists and calculations. Develop new criteria/calculations where required , maintaining high levels of accuracy. Provide frequent training, guidance and supervision to junior colleagues.
  • Actively engage with clients to understand project requirements
  • Process scope definition and technology selection
  • Define the process design criteria
  • Define the process block flow diagram and unit operations
  • Compilation of Process Flow Diagrams, along with associated mass and energy balance calculations
  • U ndertake trade off studies to resolve options
  • Identify , scope and manage process test work (on site or laboratory based)
  • Conduct capacity analysis for existing plants
  • Select the equipment for projects
  • Carryout engineering design calculations and equipment sizing calculations
  • Prepare s pecification s of process attributes for equipment , through compilation of process datasheets (or process input to general datasheets) .
  • Compilation of Process Description
  • Design of the process control logic adhering to appropriate safety standards, and documentation into Functional Descriptions
  • Display full competence and independence in the compilation of P&IDs and all levels of control philosophies.
  • Ensure process specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent
  • Process review of equipment bids
  • Liaising with other discipline engineers to ensure designs conform to process requirements
  • Contribute to hazard studies
  • Compile operating cost estimates including estimation of consumables, labor, maintenance materials and power
  • Provide input to capital cost estimates
  • Prepare well written project reports
  • Play a lead role in on site commissioning of new equipment and process systems
  • P articipate in the preparation of proposals and other business development initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
  • Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience,
  • Extensive design , commi ssioning and/or operational e xperience of minerals processing equipment (comminution, flotation, DMS, gravity separation, screening, thickening and filtration )
  • Experience in scoping and management of metallurgical testwork programs ( benchscale , pilot scale, on-site testing)
  • Experience in modelling of minerals processing equipment and systems
  • Strong client focus.
  • Ability to lead processing engineering tasks on a project, within the allocated budget and schedule, including mentoring and guidance of junior colleagues and professional interaction with other project disciplines.
