Position Summary
Our Mechanical Team Leaders will manage and lead a team of employees by communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team. They will motivate team members, assess performance, provide help to management, including hiring and training, and keep management updated on team performance.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Manager at the start of each shift to establish clear expectations for work to be completed during the shift and report out at the end of each shift to summarise status of work completed.
- Effectively manage performance of team members, addressing ongoing issues through disciplinary/grievance procedures if required.
- Provide performance review input and participate in interviewing new hire candidates.
- Plan project activity for the shift and assign mechanical team members appropriate tasks.
- Oversee mechanical team members during the shift to ensure compliance with all safety policies, quality practices, and productivity expectations.
- Provide real-time guidance to address issues affecting work completion (technical, procedural, material-related, etc.).
- Report project needs, material requirements, and planning issues to the Manufacturing Manager to optimise resource utilization.
- Maintain communication with team members to ensure understanding of purpose, methods, and progress toward goals.
- Interact with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other Team Leads as necessary to resolve problems and advance work.
- Participate in team leader/shop floor meetings, project meetings, design reviews, etc., to share important information.
- Support employee training activities to ensure understanding of technical requirements and productivity expectations.
- Review and approve mechanical team members' paid time off requests.
- Maintain security and secure the building at the end of each shift.
- Execute other tasks as assigned.
- Travel when required.
- Review and approve weekly time and attendance for payroll.
- Actively participate in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement opportunities.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience in Mechanical Assembly and Welding.
- Work typically in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform heavy manual labour.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items. Exposure to loud noises.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) is a plus.
- Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.
