Job Description - Lead Software Developer Consultant (2400000861)

Location: Remote

About this position:

As Lead Software Developer Consultant in the Information and Technology Department, your role will be fundamental to lead and guide the development of technological solutions that facilitate the digital transformation of the organization.

This position involves designing and developing robust and scalable solutions and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to connect people, technology, data and processes with a holistic and transversal vision. In addition, your experience in cloud services integrations, software development, and data architecture will be key to drive innovation and optimize workflows in the organization.

What you’ll do:

1. Technical guidance:
   - Guide product team engineers: Provide technical direction and decision making to ensure the feasibility and success of the product.
   - Coordinate the development of digital solutions with other team roles like: Developers, QAs, Designers, UXs, Product Owners.
   - Define and drive the technical vision and strategy of the product.
   - Make high-level design decisions, ensure technical standards are followed, and review architectural choices, working closely with ITE Enablers (Architecture, Security, Data, Integrations, etc.).
   - Oversee the technical development process to ensure that solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure. Provide guidance on best practices in coding, design, and development methodologies.
   - Lead the development of high-quality software solutions, including writing code, performing code reviews, and ensuring adherence to coding standards, automated testing and code quality.
2. Assessing the technology stack:
   - Ensure the new products' features align with the existing technology infrastructure.
   - Identify any necessary upgrades or potential changes to the current technology stack.
3. Scalability and performance:
   - Ensure the system can manage increased user loads and data volume.
   - Monitor key performance indicators to maintain optimal speed and responsiveness.
4. Integration capabilities:
   - Verify that the product can integrate seamlessly with other systems and applications.
   - Use API first approach for smooth data exchange and functionality integration.
5. Risk identification and mitigation:
   - Identify and resolve technical challenges, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring development stays on track.
   - Ensure adequate resources are available to address technical risks and challenges.
6. Working with a product mindset:
   - Collaborate with Project Managers and/or Product Owners to define project requirements, scope, timelines, and resources.
   - Serve as the technical liaison between development teams and other stakeholders, including product managers, clients, and other departments.
   - Develop and manage the technical roadmap for projects, including planning sprints and assigning tasks and ensure that development activities align with project goals and deliverables.
   - Make key technical decisions and provide expert advice on technical issues. Manage the technical aspects of the development lifecycle, including planning, coding, testing, and deployment.

Qualifications

What you'll need:

• Education: You hold a master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience: 5 years of combined experience in software development of enterprise systems, software/cloud architecture, cloud integrations, and/or data architecture.
• Languages: You are proficient in English and in another Bank official language (Spanish, Portuguese, and/or French).
• Certifications: At least basic cloud certifications Azure Fundamentals or AWS Practitioner; any other is a plus.

Key Skills:

• Proficiency building and consuming APIs and/or web services (SOA, REST, XML, JSON, OData), including authorization and authentication standards (SAML, OAuth, WebAuth, ADFS) as well as tracing APIs using SoapUI, ReadyAPI or Fiddler. Documenting the API using Swagger and OpenAPI standards.
• Proficiency developing applications using cloud providers like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Expertise on working with cloud-native integration services in Azure such as Service Bus, Event Hub/Grid, Logic Apps, App Services (Web Apps and Functions), API Management Service, SignalR, etc.
• Solid understanding of SOA and/or microservices architectures as well as their correspondent implementation using serverless or containerized infrastructures.
• Familiarity with modern web development concepts/frameworks such as SPA, SPFx, Angular, React, Dojo, etc. Experience developing frontend is also highly desirable.
• Proficiency in designing, architecting, and implementing integration solutions for IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS environments.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Proficiency with relational databases.
• Experience making automated tests (unit, integration, e2e, contract) and frameworks like xUnit, Playwright. Quality driven mindset.
• Experience integrating and consuming LLM, prompting engineering and RAG architectures. Knowledge of machine learning/deep learning is desirable too.
• Experience with code versioning and issue tracking tools (Atlassian environment is preferred).
• Experience leading agile cross-functional teams (team-based mentality). Helping other teammates strengthen their skill sets and work together to get the best end results to support business and technology needs.
• Excellent documentation (writing and diagramming), interpersonal, and communication skills.

Requirements:

• Citizenship: Choose one of the following
• IDB: You are either a citizen of one of our 48-member countries eligible to obtain a valid residency or legal permit to work in that country without the need for sponsorship by the IDB.
  IDB Invest: You are either a citizen, a resident or hold a legal permit to work in that country without the need for sponsorship by the IDB Invest.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
• Remote Modality: The selected candidate will not provide services from the Bank’s office and will not be provided a physical space on the premises of the Bank’s Country Office. The candidate selected will be responsible for setting up the space, and for having the equipment, internet, and phone accesses to accomplish these TORs, outside the Bank’s office. Access to the Bank’s systems will be arranged in coordination with the Bank.
