This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Investigative Business Journalist based in Brazil.

Join a research-focused team investigating US companies and uncovering insights through in-depth reporting, data analysis, and fact verification. In this role, you will combine investigative journalism with analytical storytelling to turn complex information into clear, evidence-based narratives. You will work with company filings, media coverage, public data, and direct outreach to verify facts and uncover valuable perspectives. Your findings will be presented through concise reports, briefs, and visual materials that support internal decision-making. You will also build and maintain a structured digital research library, making information easy to retrieve, connect, and develop into broader insights. This remote opportunity is suited to a curious, detail-oriented professional who enjoys independent research and collaborating across time zones.

Accountabilities

• Investigate US companies using corporate filings, media reports, public databases, interviews, and other reliable information sources.

• Contact company representatives, industry experts, and relevant stakeholders through LinkedIn and email to verify information and gather original insights.

• Analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative findings into structured, factual, evidence-based narratives.

• Create simple charts, visualizations, and presentation layouts to communicate research findings clearly and effectively.

• Identify recurring patterns, connections, and themes across companies to contribute to broader research projects.

• Maintain an organized digital research system using Obsidian and Markdown, ensuring notes, sources, tags, and cross-references remain accessible and easy to navigate.

• Prepare concise written reports, research briefs, and presentations to support internal analysis and decision-making.

• Collaborate with analysts and editors to refine research outputs and ensure written content and visuals communicate a cohesive story.

Requirements:

• Experience in investigative journalism, research-based writing, business research, or analytical storytelling.

• Strong research skills, with the ability to assess sources, verify information, and distinguish reliable evidence from unconfirmed claims.

• Confidence conducting professional outreach and fact-checking through LinkedIn, email, and open-source research tools.

• Excellent writing skills, with precision, balance, clarity, and strong narrative structure. Writing experience does not need to be in English.

• Advanced English proficiency is required; candidates must submit their CV in English.

• Strong organizational skills and a disciplined, methodical approach to managing complex information and research materials.

• Comfortable using Excel, PowerPoint, and Markdown-based tools such as Obsidian.

• Ability to work independently, demonstrate curiosity and persistence, and collaborate remotely across time zones.

• Access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.

• Application preference: Candidates who include an optional 1-2 minute Loom video or similar professional introduction may receive priority.
