Job Description
KPIT Brasil is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer (ISO 26262 & MBD) to support the development of next-generation automotive systems for global programs.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving Functional Safety activities throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 standards and contributing to the development of safe, reliable, and high-performance automotive solutions. You will also work with Model-Based Development (MBD) methodologies, supporting system and software development through MATLAB/Simulink-based engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Functional Safety activities in compliance with ISO 2626

- Conduct HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment) and support the definition of Safety Goals.
- Develop and manage Functional Safety Requirements (FSR), Technical Safety Requirements (TSR), and Software Safety Requirements (SSR).
- Perform and review safety analyses, including FMEA, DFMEA, and FTA.
- Ensure safety requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support safety architecture definition and ASIL decomposition activities.
- Contribute to Model-Based Development (MBD) activities using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Participate in technical reviews, audits, assessments, and customer discussions.
- Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Software teams to ensure effective implementation of safety requirements.
- Support verification and validation activities related to safety-critical systems.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in the automotive industry.
- Hands-on experience with ISO 26262 Functional Safety processes.
- Experience performing HARA and defining Safety Goals.
- Strong knowledge of FSR, TSR, and SSR development.
- Experience conducting FMEA, DFMEA, and FTA analyses.
- Experience with ASIL classification and decomposition.
- Experience with Model-Based Development (MBD).
- Strong hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Familiarity with automotive development processes and the V-Cycle.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AUTOSAR.
- Experience with RTW, TargetLink, and Auto Code Generation.
- Knowledge of ASPICE.
- Experience with MIL, SIL, and HIL testing.
- Exposure to Powertrain, Control Systems, or Embedded Software development.
- Experience working with global OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
