Job summary

Bluelight is seeking a senior backend-focused software engineer to join our growing consultancy. You will develop high-quality backend services with Node.js/TypeScript, design scalable RESTful APIs in AWS, and contribute to multi-tenant data models while collaborating across teams.

You will also work on frontend tasks when needed, participate in rigorous testing, and align with a strong ownership culture that values excellence and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend-focused software development experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency RESTful APIs in AWS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience with multi-tenant architectures and SQL migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate).
• Proficient in React and full-stack capabilities.
• Familiar with CI/CD and testing practices.
• Ability to overlap US business hours.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Experience with large, complex systems.
• Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
