We are looking for a Chassis Frame Engineer for Volvo Bus

The group mission within the Chassis Frame Team is to develop our chassis and main metallic structures globally according to Volvo standards, securing quality, safety, and weight optimization for our products.

To succeed as a chassis frame engineer, you should have an interest in mechanical structures, welding, machine elements, surface treatment, mechanical materials, and Finite Element Analysis. Experience is valuable, but a strong interest and proactive attitude are highly regarded for this position.

Main responsibilities

• Develop sheet metal and mechanical structures with welding, casting, and bending for Volvo buses' chassis, following geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
• Follow Volvo standards during the design process, mainly using CATIA.
• Work on chassis frame development for all Volvo bus products (BEV and diesel).
• Ensure quality in the documentation of developed parts.
• Ensure quality and readiness of parts during various project release phases.
• Address maintenance and quality issues.

Qualifications:

• A mechanical engineering degree.
• Experience in sheet metal and mechanical structures development, preferably in automotive.
• Proficiency in CATIA.
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong communication and presentation skills in Portuguese and English, both spoken and written.
• Ability to propose improvements in processes and deliverables.
• Strong sense of responsibility and teamwork.
• A comprehensive understanding of the product, connecting cross-functional areas.
• Self-driven, proactive, and eager to learn and develop.
• Good organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to work within local and global cross-functional networks.

Nice to have

• Spanish language skills.
• 2 to 5 years of experience with sheet metal and mechanical structures for vehicle chassis.
• Experience with FEA analysis.
• Experience with plastic development.
• Experience with additive manufacturing.
• Experience with Volvo documentation tools such as Protom & Kola.
