Position Title: Security Manager, Brazil Office
Company: Financial firm, U.S. based
Regional focus: Rio de Janeiro (primary office) and Sao Paulo (secondary office), Brazil
Location: Candidate must be based in Rio de Janeiro and required to be in the office daily


POSITION OVERVIEW
The Security Manager will be a key representative of the global security program for the company's Brazil operations, serving as a direct extension of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) based at the US headquarters in New York. This individual will implement and maintain security protocols across the company’s offices in Brazil, primarily in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The role requires a highly experienced and sophisticated professional capable of building strong relationships with local senior leadership, law enforcement, and financial industry counterparts. The Security Manager from the Rio office will work full-time, providing security leadership and ensuring alignment with HQ’s global security standards.


KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or a related field, with significant experience managing security operations within a multinational organization.
  2. Education: A bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, or a related field is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are also highly desirable.
  3. Languages: Fluency in Portuguese and English is essential, as are strong communication skills to effectively engage with local and global stakeholders.
  4. Leadership & Diplomacy: Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence senior leadership in Brazil and at headquarters, representing the interests of the global security program.
  5. Local Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the security landscape in Brazil, including risks, local law enforcement practices, and the regulatory environment.

CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Act as the primary security representative, aligning local initiatives with global security strategies.
  2. Lead security operations for Brazil’s offices, ensuring compliance with protocols and policy.
  3. Build relationships with senior leadership, law enforcement, and financial industry peers.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and manage incident response, collaborating with HQ and local authorities.
  5. Provide regular reports to the CSO, ensuring clear communication between Brazil and US headquarters.
  6. Assist in developing and managing global security and safety programs to meet the physical security needs of BNY employees, clients, visitors, and property.
  7. Assist in ensuring the safety and security of BNY assets, property, and employees for a BNY region.
  8. Manage physical security equipment deployment and maintenance for an assigned region.
  9. Manage the oversight of the contract guard operations for assigned regions.
  10. Assist investigative team in fact-finding regarding potential fraudulent or illegal activities perpetrated by employees or clients.
  11. Provide support and analysis of incidents relayed through the security command center.
  12. Investigate security incidents in assigned regions and implement corrective policies or actions as necessary.
  13. Develop policies regarding the need to dispatch, add, and/or post guards in response to specific incidents.
  14. Manage relationships with external service suppliers and vendors.
  15. Contribute to the achievement of physical security objectives for applicable facilities.
  16. Partner with relevant regional stakeholders to identify and mitigate all safety and security concerns.
  17. Act as BNY owner for all fire, life safety, and security matters in assigned regions/locations.
  18. Develop and maintain external connectivity with industry counterparts and law enforcement agencies.
  19. Work with BNY technology project managers on self-initiated and real estate-driven projects.
  20. Assist with executive protection-related requirements for senior executives traveling in assigned regions.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to the US Director of the Americas and Chief Security Officer (CSO), with close collaboration with Brazil’s senior leadership.
