About the business unit


Cubatão covers the entire operation of four manufacturing plants (CUB1, CUB2 and CUB3) from the handling of the raw material to the dispatch to customers. CUB 1 produces NA (53%,61% and 99%), LDAN, and AN solution 82%, CUB 2 produces Ammonia, NA (53% and 61%), HDAN, AN solution 82%, Sulphuric acid, PhosAcid, and MAP, and CUB3 produces Sulphuric acid, SSP powder and NPKs. The unit stretches across a significant area in Santos, Sao Paolo and is recognized as a responsible employer in the region.

About the Role

As Plant Manager you are passionate about achieving operational excellence and have a genuine interest in helping the company and your employees succeed. You will be responsible for steering the continuous improvement and optimization of all processes in the plant. You will lead a competent team, overseeing the production, maintenance, and safety of the unit to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer expectations.

You are a people-person, with excellent communication and collaboration skills, putting them to good use both inside Yara and with external stakeholders. You care about your assets, your employees, your company and your community. You are innovative and resourceful, and eager to contribute to the prosperity of people and planet.


The position reports to SVP HESQ and Production and is based in the region of Santos, Sao Paolo Brazil.

Responsibilities

• Develop a vision/strategy (road map) for present and future operations.
• Aim for excellence and continuous improvement in the overall site operation.
• Propose, defend, and implement the Business Plan for the coming year, managing the annual budget.
• Prioritize and ensure site adherence to legal regulations and to Yara internal HESQ policies.
• Establish site specific policies and procedures based on the framework set by the Yara Steering System.
• Meet annual volumes and fixed cost targets by ensuring reliable and systematic operations.
• Analyze the need for investments and propose projects in adherence to the Capital Value Process.
• Ensure excellent cooperation within the region on best practices and initiatives; to speed up the implementation and usage of such best practices and to achieve optimal synergies.
• Ensure good relationship with unions and/or employee representatives, creating a good climate for industrial relations, while encouraging a performance culture.
• Promote good social citizenship with external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, authorities, media, local communities, etc.
• Secure workforce and succession planning, focusing on talents and critical positions; ensuring a proper organizational design.
• Lead and support the development of all direct reports, maximizing competencies and alignment to business demands. Ensuring employees have a clear vision of Yara´s performance culture and values.
• Embody a learning attitude, by remaining curious, and seeking out all relevant sources of information to excel in both technical and people related topics.
• Acknowledge, demonstrate, and encourage a good work/private life balance.

Profile

• University degree, preferably in a natural science or an engineering subject.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a complex site management, production management or project management in the (petro)chemical industry.
• Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
• Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
• Hands-on mentality and good interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel when needed.
• Fluent in English and intermediate Portuguese.
