Title and Summary
Director, Solutions Architect
Customer Solution Center is a new structure which enables Mastercard to develop better solutions & bundles for prioritized customer segments in markets. It is essentially the housing for all Mastercard capabilities, and it aims to drive Mastercard growth, influence, and revenue by creating and selling compelling data-driven, scalable needs-based solutions to new and existing customers by tapping Mastercard’s extensive toolbox of product and service offerings.
Customer Solution Center Solution Architect is the main partner to Frontline during solutioning to maximize the impact of solutions for the client. The Solution Architect is a curator of solutions and an aggregator across products for segments during solution bundling and helps Account Managers ‘tell the story’ to the client. They play a critical role in ensuring relevancy and driving differentiation across all segments, resulting in better relationships, market share, and revenue.
The Solution Architect reports to the Customer Solution Center Lead (CSCL).
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the value chain of ecommerce to identify trends, needs, and opportunities for Mastercard, including ecommerce value chain deep knowledge, debit transactions in ecommerce, and PIX in ecommerce.
- Have a good understanding of Mastercard Products, Services, and corporate strategy.
- Collaborate with account teams to identify customer needs and opportunities; recommend needs-based solutions in coordination with Products, Services, and Marketing.
- Partner with Account Managers and Business Development teams to develop and quantify value propositions for integrated, customized solutions across products/services, especially in ecommerce transactions and payment authentication solutions such as 3DS, CD-CVM, passkeys, wallets, and tokenization flows.
- Iterate with Frontline at different stages to ensure solutions meet client-specific needs.
- Bridge the gap between the sales team and product/solution expertise.
- Engage in complex or customized deals requiring multiple products, services, or platforms.
- Identify and assemble the appropriate “squad” from a solutioning perspective for client opportunities/RFPs.
- Engage relevant expertise within and across CSCs as needed.
- Create bespoke solutions and proactively build solutions for known market needs, knitting together assets in bundles for deployment.
- Identify external partners, such as fintechs, for capabilities not present internally, focusing on ecommerce and payment systems.
- Replicate successful solutions and sales approaches.
- Develop business requirements documents in collaboration with product specialists and technical architects.
- Provide ongoing management support to clients post-implementation.
- Share best practices within the Solution Architect community.
- Contribute input to product groups and segment leads to enhance product and segment strategies.
All About You
- Deep understanding and experience in product development, management, and consumer experience, especially related to payments in the ecommerce value chain.
- Good knowledge of payments products and services, ecommerce transactions, and emerging solutions like PIX, including their economics and fraud mitigation.
- Strong analytical skills to work with large data sets and derive insights.
- Experience working with or procuring vendors for e-merchant operations.
- Relationship management with acquirers, token requestors, gateways, platforms, and anti-fraud solutions.
- Understanding of industry’s evolving strategic needs, especially in ecommerce and acceptance.
- Ability to architect integrated solutions using Mastercard’s products and services.
- Basic understanding of APIs and process flows.
- Highly collaborative, excellent communicator, and natural integrator.
- Strong discipline in product development, focusing on differentiation, experience, quality, and economics.
- Ability to rally internal stakeholders and build organizational support.
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies relevant to co-brand issuers and merchants.
KPIs (AICP)
- Improvement in key drivers such as GDV, transaction numbers, enabled merchants, and vendors within segments.
- Deal win ratio for supported opportunities.
- Product penetration ratio within assigned segments.
- Customer satisfaction survey results from assigned segments.
- Number of solutions scaled globally.
- Number of projects supported across other CSCs.
- Market-specific objectives.
