Job summary

McKinsey & Company Brazil seeks a results-driven engineer with upstream Oil & Gas experience to join cross-functional teams. You will work closely with senior client executives and McKinsey colleagues to analyze complex problems, develop hypotheses, and present actionable recommendations to drive client impact.

You will receive world-class training, mentorship, and exposure to a variety of industries as you grow into leadership roles in a dynamic consulting environment in Rio de Janeiro.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (chemical, geology, geoscience, industrial).
• Proven upstream Oil & Gas operational experience incl. exploration, production, reservoir management.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with strong logical and creative thinking.
• Willingness to take initiative and break new ground in a dynamic environment. Portuguese native level with fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Work in teams of 3–5 consultants to engage with senior client executives.
• Diagnose, formulate, and test hypotheses; develop and communicate recommendations.
• Present results to client management and help implement recommendations with client teams.
• Receive mentorship and coaching to accelerate growth and leadership development.

You will work closely with senior client executives and McKinsey colleagues in the most entrepreneurial environments.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Bachelor's degree and/or Masters, MBA, PhD with engineering background (chemical, geology, geoscience, industrial)
• Proven experience in upstream Oil and Gas operations, including exploration, production, and reservoir management
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to untangle complex issues
• Strong logical reasoning and creative thinking skills
• Ability to take initiative and eagerness to break new ground, create opportunities for others, and take personal risks
• Native level language skills in Portuguese with fluent level language skills in English
