Consultant Engineer - Boiler and Machinery - Chemical

FM is currently seeking an Engineer with process or loss prevention experience within the Chemical industry to join our South American Engineering Team. When not in the field, you will work remotely from your home office.

With nearly two centuries of knowledge and experience, you’ll work hands-on with some of the world’s most influential organizations, helping them understand risk and protect their assets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Evaluate the integrity and reliability of equipment, identify hazards and deficiencies to deliver focused risk improvement solutions and reduce equipment risk.
2. Utilize operating standards, data sheets, and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices.
3. Prepare engineering reports and loss expectancies to support risk improvement.
4. Collaborate with Operations Engineering, Client Services, Account Management, and Underwriting on Boiler & Machinery recommendations.
5. Manage your time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision from your home office.
6. This role requires travel to large, complex industrial client sites to evaluate operations and systems, identify risks and hazards, with expected overnight travel of 75 to 100 nights per year.
7. Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
8. Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a relevant field.
9. The position is based in the Sao Paulo area.
10. Experience in a high hazard industry, preferably in the Chemical industry.
11. Understanding of basic machinery and equipment with hands-on exposure.
12. Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Office required.
13. Analytical, organized, with good problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
14. Results-driven with self-learning capabilities.
15. Fluent spoken and written English; Portuguese skills are a plus.
16. A valid B1/B2 USA visa is preferred.
