Consultant Engineer - Boiler and Machinery - Chemical

FM is seeking an engineer with process or loss prevention experience within the chemical industry to join our South American Engineering Team. When not in the field, you will work remotely from your home office.

With nearly two centuries of knowledge and experience, you will work hands-on with some of the world's most influential organizations, helping them understand risk and protect their assets.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the integrity and reliability of equipment, identify hazards and deficiencies to deliver focused risk improvement solutions and reduce equipment risk.
• Utilize operating standards, data sheets, and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices.
• Prepare engineering reports and loss expectancies to support risk improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Operations Engineering, Client Services, Account Management, and Underwriting on Boiler & Machinery recommendations.
• Manage time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision from a home office.
• This is a field-based role requiring travel to large, complex industrial client sites to evaluate operations and systems, with expected overnight travel of 75 to 100 nights per year.
• Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
• The position is based in the São Paulo area.
• Experience in a high-hazard industry, preferably in the chemical sector.
• Hands-on exposure to machinery and equipment, with the ability to understand their basic functions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in MS Office.
• Analytical, organized, with problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Results-driven with self-learning capabilities.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); Portuguese is preferred.
• A valid B1/B2 USA visa is desirable.
