Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Community Management Associate based in Canada.

As a Community Management Associate, you will help shape how a globally recognized free-knowledge platform connects with audiences across social media. You will bring creativity, cultural awareness, and a strong understanding of internet trends to community engagement, with a particular focus on Gen Z audiences and short-form video culture. Working within a collaborative, globally distributed communications team, you will create engaging social copy, participate in real-time conversations, and help strengthen the brand's voice across digital channels. You will also highlight inspiring stories from a worldwide network of volunteers and contribute to building effective community management guidelines. By combining creative experimentation with audience insights and social listening, you will help improve engagement and foster meaningful connections. This is an exciting opportunity for a social media enthusiast who enjoys moving quickly, learning continuously, and making a positive impact through digital storytelling.

Accountabilities:
  • Support daily social media engagement by writing compelling comment copy, responding to community interactions, and participating in timely conversations around trending topics and cultural moments.
  • Help maintain and refine a consistent, engaging brand voice across social media platforms while adapting communication styles to different audiences and channels.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of community management playbooks, moderation guidelines, response protocols, and tone-of-voice standards.
  • Identify, collect, and share compelling stories from a global volunteer community, highlighting the people and contributions that make free knowledge accessible worldwide.
  • Monitor emerging internet culture, short-form video trends, platform updates, and new content formats across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant channels.
  • Recommend creative engagement opportunities and support experimentation with new approaches to community interaction and audience growth.
  • Assist in testing and implementing social listening, moderation, and social media management tools to improve response times and community engagement.
  • Track channel activity, monitor audience sentiment, and identify recurring questions, feedback, and emerging community concerns.
  • Contribute to monthly performance reports by reviewing social media analytics and engagement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of content and community management strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across communications and other teams to ensure timely, thoughtful, and culturally sensitive engagement with diverse global audiences.
Requirements:
  • 1–3 years of practical experience in social media management, community engagement, digital communications, or digital storytelling.
  • Strong familiarity with TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging short-form video trends, with an intuitive understanding of Gen Z audiences and online culture.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, including experience creating social media copy, engaging in comment sections, adapting brand tone, or moderating online communities.
  • Familiarity with social media management platforms, analytics tools, and social listening or moderation solutions.
  • Strong judgment and emotional intelligence, with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations, respond appropriately to community concerns, and recognize when issues should be escalated.
  • Basic analytical skills and a willingness to use engagement metrics, audience sentiment, and social listening insights to inform decisions and improve performance.
  • A global mindset and awareness of cultural differences, with the ability to communicate thoughtfully with audiences from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and an interest in developing structured community management processes, guidelines, and response frameworks.
  • A collaborative, curious, and adaptable approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, remote-first environment across different time zones.
  • A genuine passion for free knowledge, online communities, digital storytelling, and the role that accessible information plays in empowering people worldwide.
  • Availability to work remotely from Brazil and collaborate with a globally distributed team, ideally with some overlap with North American time zones.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work within an international, remote-first organization.
  • Location-adjusted compensation designed to be competitive, equitable, and aligned with skills, experience, and local market conditions.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization dedicated to making free knowledge accessible to everyone.
  • A collaborative and inclusive working environment that values diverse perspectives, curiosity, and continuous learning.
  • The opportunity to develop expertise in community management, social media strategy, digital storytelling, and audience engagement.
  • Exposure to global digital communities, emerging social media trends, and innovative approaches to online communication.
