We are founder led, profitable, and growing. We are hiring a Cloud Support Engineer to build a career with Canonical and support customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. If you have an affinity for open source development and a passion for technology, you'll enjoy working with some of the best in the industry.

We solve interesting technical problems regularly, from triaging complex cloud issues and Linux kernel crashes to OS configuration and root cause analysis. We are expanding rapidly and seek talented problem solvers passionate about Ubuntu solutions.

Location: This is a globally remote role, unless specified otherwise.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Investigate customer-reported issues through research and escalation.
  2. Resolve complex customer problems related to Canonical's products.
  3. Own support cases, ensuring high customer satisfaction within SLAs by setting expectations and fulfilling commitments.
  4. Engage directly with customers via phone, ticketing, and remote sessions.
  5. Participate in a regular weekend rotation.
  6. Contribute and maintain knowledge base articles for shared learning.
  7. Understand Ubuntu development processes to set realistic customer expectations on timelines.
Candidate Requirements
  1. Excellent written and spoken English and presentation skills.
  2. Strong academic record from high school and university.
  3. Degree in a technical field or a compelling alternative narrative.
  4. Proven ability to exceed expectations and achieve outstanding results.
  5. Hands-on experience supporting Linux systems, including at least three of:
    • Virtualization/Cloud (KVM, OpenStack)
    • Containers (Docker, LXD/LXC, Kubernetes)
    • Storage technologies (block, object, network)
    • Networking (bonding, firewalling, bridging, etc.)
  6. Cloud computing skills in provisioning, monitoring, and orchestration.
  7. Advanced troubleshooting skills, including navigating logs and stack traces, and understanding bugs for escalation.
  8. Programming fundamentals in any language.
  9. Extensive customer support experience, prioritizing customer needs, communicating professionally, and setting expectations.
  10. Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.
