This is an opportunity to lead a field engineering team, helping customers implement Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The role involves working with technologies such as Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and open source solutions like MLops platforms and data platforms. As the company expands into industries like telecom, finance, healthcare, and media, it develops new open source solutions to meet these sectors' needs.

Engineering Managers at Canonical are expected to be outstanding engineers who can troubleshoot, contribute technically, and shape team direction. They focus on managing talent, guiding projects, and participating in technical presales to achieve quarterly goals.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of field engineers across presales and professional services
• Design and deploy cloud solutions such as OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph, Kubernetes, and others
• Engage in presales activities by providing technical advice
• Mentor and manage team performance and career development
• Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and customers
• Implement engineering best practices and project planning

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and technologies (Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph)
• Practical Linux and networking skills
• Experience in technical presales and team leadership
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Willingness to travel up to 40%

Desired Skills

• Second language (Spanish or French)
• Python programming
• Experience with external partners and stakeholder feedback
