Job summary

Umicore is a global advanced materials and recycling group focused on producing and recycling key materials. The company’s Metal Deposition Solutions arm creates metal-based products for circuit boards, jewelry, and industrial components.

The position targets a chemical/industrial engineer with process development and safety experience. You will drive process projects, apply best practices, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable outputs and continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Industrial Chemistry.
• Intermediate English proficiency.
• Experience in process development or production within the chemical industry—ideally in electroplating or refining sectors.
• Experience with process safety in chemical plants, including knowledge of risk assessment techniques such as HAZOP, SWIFT, etc.
• Knowledge of quality control techniques.
• Green Belt certification is desirable.
• Experience with technology transfer and the commissioning of processes/facilities is desirable.
• Experience with integrated management systems, preferably SAP.

• Delivers expert work in Process Engineering with high quality and timeliness, applying best practices and standards.
• Executes process engineering and/or industrialization projects by applying knowledge and expertise.
• Builds knowledge and expertise within core competence subdomain and owns complex tasks in process engineering, safety standards, producing outputs and identifying risks or anomalies proactively.
• Analyzes problems, recommends options, and implements improvements in methods, tools, or data flows.
• Collaborates with adjacent teams and stakeholders, communicating insights and recommendations clearly.
• Collaborates cross-functionally to deliver high-quality outcomes and knowledge sharing.
• Contributes to continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements.
