Job summary

GEP is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to strengthen our testing process and ensure the quality of API and web deliverables. You will work with QA, developers, and product stakeholders to design and execute tests, report results, and contribute to a culture of quality.

The role requires hands-on API testing, Playwright-based automation support, and collaboration in an Agile environment. Fluent Portuguese is required with English desirable for global teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Portuguese; English is desirable for global collaboration.

What You Will Do

As a SDET at GEP, you will play a key role in strengthening our testing process and supporting the quality of our API and web deliverables. You will work closely with the QA team, developers, and product stakeholders to execute tests, document results, and help to discipline our quality culture. You will:

• Execute manual API/Web tests and support test automation coverage using Playwright.
• Collaborate with the QA and development teams to ensure the quality of deliverables.
• Design and execute test cases based on requirements and user stories.
• Log, document, and track test evidence in Jira and Xray.
• Report bugs clearly and objectively, with reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
• Participate in agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban), contributing a quality-focused perspective.

Required Technical Skills

• Knowledge of software testing fundamentals (test types, black-box/white-box techniques, acceptance criteria).
• Understanding of the Testing Pyramid (unit, integration, e2e) and where each type fits.
• Experience with API testing (HTTP methods, status codes, payload/response validation).
• Hands-on experience with Postman for API testing.
• Knowledge of Playwright (or strong ability and willingness to learn quickly).
• Basic knowledge of Git and use of VS Code.

What Should You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge in data-related roles (internships or academic projects are considered).
• Fluent in Portuguese. Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is desirable due to potential collaboration with global teams. Spanish is a plus.

Other Skills

• Some knowledge with test automation (even from studies or personal projects).
• Familiarity with Jira and Xray/TestRail for test case management, documentation, execution, and traceability.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for database data validation.
• Programming logic (helps with understanding payloads and automation scripts).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to feedback.
