Job summary

3M is seeking an Accounting Specialist for our Sumare, SP site to support closing activities, prepare financial reports, and analyze variances. You will partner with Finance, Tax, and Business teams to ensure accurate financial information and compliance with internal controls.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Accounting with CRC, have advanced English, and experience with US GAAP/IFRS, ERP systems, and data visualization.

Qualifications

• Experience with financial reporting, month-end closing activities, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to partner with cross-functional teams for decisions and process improvements.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and/or local accounting standards.
• Experience with AI tools, data visualization, and ERP systems to improve efficiency and automate processes.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and data analytics.
• Advanced English communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with active CRC.

• Identify process improvements and support automation, standardization, and efficiency initiatives.
• Assist with audits and requests for financial information.
• Provide financial guidance and analytical support for business projects and operations.

As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting accounting closing activities, preparing financial reports, analyzing variances, controlling costs, revenue, and profitability, while partnering with business teams to ensure the quality of financial information, compliance with internal controls and accounting standards, and support audits, process improvements, automation, and strategic decision-making.

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial information.

• Prepare financial reports and variance analysis.

• Provide insights to support decision-making.

• Partner with Finance areas, Global Service Centers, Tax, Supply Chain, and Business teams to ensure alignment of financial data and processes.

• Support cost control, expense analysis, revenue tracking, and profitability analysis.

• Support the review of balance sheet reconciliations, including the analysis and follow-up of aging and pending items.

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and applicable accounting standards.

• Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation, standardization, and efficiency initiatives.

• Assist with audits, internal reviews, and requests for financial information.

• Provide financial guidance and analytical support for business projects and operational initiatives.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Experience with financial reporting, month-end closing activities, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to partner with cross-functional teams to support business decisions and process improvements.

• Working knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and/or local accounting standards.

• Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, as well as data visualization tools, to improve efficiency and support process automation initiatives.

• Experience with ERP systems.

• Advanced level of English.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with active CRC.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Prior experience in a Big Four accounting or consulting firm is preferred.

• Postgraduate degree or specialization in Finance.

Work location:

• This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M plant in Sumaré.

• Travel: May include up to 20%.
