Job description

We’re driven by ambition and a bold vision for what’s next. To execute on our aggressive expansion plan, we’re looking for an exceptional Accountant Manager for Brazil. In this role, you will report to the Finance Director.

Who We Are

Zubale is a technology company that empowers retailers to win in eCommerce. We serve a wide range of clients — from supermarkets, specialty stores, and pharmacies to department stores and fashion brands — across Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia and now Argentina. How do we do it? Through two key products:

  • Flexifleet: A freelance marketplace to perform picking, packing, and delivery tasks for retailers and aggregators.
  • Consumer Connect: AI-powered conversational commerce via WhatsApp to drive sales and enhance customer experience.

We are passionate about helping brands, aggregators, and retailers optimize their eCommerce operations, reduce costs, and increase profitability. Backed by over $70 million in venture capital, we have maintained steady growth over the past six years and completed more than 100 million orders through our platform. Today, we serve over 100 clients and connect thousands of freelancers within our network. And this is just the beginning. We are building a profitable and scalable ecosystem, with the vision of becoming the number one partner for retailers’ eCommerce growth.

Who You Are

We are looking for a strategic, hands‑on, and technology-driven Accounting Manager to lead our accounting governance, tax compliance, and financial integrity in Brazil. In this position, you will act as the guardian of our financial statements under local (BR GAAP) and international standards (IFRS / US GAAP), ensuring accurate month-end close execution, flawless tax compliance, and rigorous payroll/labor audit processes.

As a key leader within our Finance organization, you will foster a culture of operational excellence, continuous feedback, and digital innovation—driving process automation and AI adoption across accounting workflows.

What You Will Do
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Governance:
  • Ensure revenue reconciliation and recognition by client, business unit, and entity, monitoring all data through client approval to secure successful collections.
  • Verify the accurate reconciliation and execution of freelance payments, ensuring the required controls are maintained to safeguard organizational profitability.
  • Lead the monthly close calendar execution, ensuring all Balance Sheet and P&L accounts are fully reconciled and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Oversee financial accounting under BR GAAP and ensure alignment with global reporting standards (IFRS / US GAAP).
  • Conduct variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget / Prior Period) to deliver strategic analytical insights to FP&A and leadership.
  • Prepare complete Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, DMPL, and Footnotes) for internal stakeholders and external audits.
  • Manage fixed assets, intangibles, impairment tests, transfer pricing documentation, and chart-of-accounts standardization across ERP systems.
Tax Strategy, Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Oversee the accurate calculation, review, and timely payment of direct and indirect federal, state, and municipal taxes (PIS, COFINS, ISS, IRPJ, CSLL, ICMS) to maintain a zero-penalty record.
  • Ensure accurate and error‑free submissions of all ancillary tax obligations (SPED Fiscal, EFD‑Contribuições, ECD, ECF, and EFD‑Reinf).
  • Monitor intercompany transactions in compliance with local and global Transfer Pricing regulations.
  • Identify legal tax optimization opportunities, tax credit recoveries, and applicable incentives in the technology/services sector.
Payroll & Social Security Audit:
  • Audit and validate payroll accounting entries, provisions (13th salary, vacation, bonuses), and severance calculations.
  • Oversee and validate social security obligations, taxes, and contributions (INSS via DCTFWeb, FGTS Digital, and IRRF).
  • Ensure strict labor compliance and seamless data synchronization with eSocial.
  • Partner with Legal and HR to monitor labor/tax contingencies and maintain accurate balance sheet provisions.
Technology, Innovation & Process Automation:
  • Lead digital transformation across accounting routines, identifying repetitive tasks (bank reconciliations, report extractions, invoice processing) to implement AI and process automation solutions.
  • Oversee ERP and accounting/payroll software implementations, integrations, or continuously optimize system parameters.
  • Promote continuous digital upskilling within the accounting team to leverage data tools and free up time for strategic analysis.
People Leadership & Operational Rituals:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the local accounting team, setting clear KPIs, OKRs, and conducting regular 1:1 performance feedback sessions.
  • Facilitate weekly operational planning rituals to align team priorities, clear bottlenecks, and ensure smooth deliverables.
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent, and high‑performing team culture.
The Skills And Experience You Will Bring
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Active professional accounting license (CRC) is required.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Tax Management, Auditing, IFRS, or Corporate Finance is highly desirable.
  • Solid experience in senior accounting roles or accounting management, ideally within fast‑paced tech startups, digital platforms, or dynamic corporate environments.
  • Proven track record in handling external audits and managing complex multi‑entity structures.
Technical & Leadership Competencies:
  • Technical Accounting Mastery: Deep knowledge of BR GAAP and IFRS / US GAAP rules, financial statement consolidation, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Tax & Labor Compliance Expertise: Strong background in Brazilian tax regulations (SPEDs, Transfer Pricing) and labor/social security compliance (eSocial, DCTFWeb, FGTS Digital).
  • Audit & Internal Controls: Proven ability to build robust reconciliation processes, internal controls, and balance sheet audit mechanisms.
  • Tech‑Savvy Mindset: Experience with modern ERPs, accounting systems, and a strong interest in leveraging process automation, Python, or Generative AI tools to optimize finance operations.
  • People Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading teams, setting clear OKRs/KPIs, and conducting operational rituals.
