Cummins Inc. is offering a 13-month, full-time internship for undergraduate students in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Product Engineering.

Based at the Scoresby office, the program commences 27 January 2027 and is designed to develop practical skills while applying theoretical knowledge learned in your degree. You will work with experienced engineers, creating CAD models, drafting detailed drawings, and supporting product development from concept to release.

• Undergraduate student in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Product Engineering.
• Penultimate year with one final year of study remaining.
• Available for the full 13 months and able to defer studies for that duration.

Responsabilidades

• Join a seasoned engineering team and collaborate with internal/external customers.
• Create 3D CAD models and develop design concepts within project specs.
• Produce detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Coordinate engineering change requests and support change management.
• Engage with procurement, supply chain, and cross-functional teams.
• Gain hands-on exposure to verification testing and data analysis.
• Prepare findings for design reviews and engineering projects.
• Develop CAD drafting proficiency aligned with Cummins standards.
• Coordinate design and drawing development with drafting teams.
• Participate in project management for new products.
• Gain assembly experience with engine power packs and packaged products

Our Scoresby office is offering rare 13-month full time Mechanical Engineering Internship opportunities commencing 27th January 2027 for current Mechanical, Mechatronics or Product Engineering students who are keen to utilise theoretical skills learnt in their degree and develop practical skills in the workforce.

In this role you will make an impact and gain experience in the following ways:

• Being part of a great team of experienced engineers working with internal and external customers across multiple departments.
• Create 3D CAD models and develop design concepts within project specifications.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation for manufacturing release.
• Coordinate engineering change requests and support engineering change management activities for new and existing products.
• Liaise with procurement, supply chain, suppliers and cross-functional teams to support product development activities.
• Gain hands‑on exposure to verification testing, data analysis and engineering reporting.
• Prepare and present findings for design reviews and engineering projects.
• Develop proficiency in CAD and drafting practices aligned with Cummins standards and specifications.
• Coordinate product design and drawing development with drafting teams.
• Participate in project management activities for new product development projects.
• Gain hands‑on assembly experience with engine power pack and packaged products.

About You:

To qualify for this undergraduate internship, it is essential that you:

• Are currently studying a degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Product Engineering, ideally in your 3 rd or 4 th year of study
• Have between 1 and 8 units of study left to complete of your undergraduate degree as of January 2027
• Ideally completed the penultimate year with one final year of university left before graduation.
• Are available for the full 13 months and be willing to defer your studies for that duration.

Note: Applicants that do not meet these qualifying requirements unfortunately will not be considered.

To be successful in this role, you will possess skills/abilities or be able to perform:

• Strong academic results in Mathematics; Thermodynamics; Mechanical Design; Professional Practice.
• Drafting or CAD modelling skills (Solidworks, CREO, Inventor or AutoCAD).
• Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
• Understanding of product lifecycle management principles
• Some project management skills.
• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong computer literacy and a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, a team work ethic and the ability to think and operate autonomously and independently when required.
• Knowledge of internal combustion engines is highly desirable

This is a 13-month, full time, paid placement and the successful candidate will be required to defer their studies for the duration of the program.
