Job summary

Seapeak is seeking experienced Shift Supervisors for Bahrain LNG Import Terminal to lead on-site operations, manage day-to-day safety, and ensure reliable LNG delivery. The role involves coordinating with offshore and onshore teams, controlling access, and maintaining environmental and quality standards.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in hydrocarbon processing, with LNG exposure and 5+ years in supervisory roles, plus marine qualifications or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

  • Engineering or Chemical Engineering degree or recognised Professional Engineering qualification or relevant professional training and experience with appropriate vocational qualifications.
  • Marine qualifications at an appropriate level may be acceptable provided experience includes service in senior rank on board LNG or LPG ships with responsibility for control and supervision of cargo operations and time spent working in marine terminals and onshore facilities with knowledge of regasification processes.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in hydrocarbon processing with at least 2 years’ experience with LNG and high-pressure natural gas.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising and directing others in hydrocarbon process operations.
  • Experience of Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work, control of isolations and overrides, etc.
  • Experience and training in Emergency Response. Ability to act as the lead in an emergency and take appropriate actions to control a situation and minimise impact on the facility, risk to life, damage to property and release to the environment.
  • Experience of marine terminal operations and offshore support vessel operation.
  • The ability to lead the development of the Operations Team during Start-Up, transition to operations and early operation of a new facility.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent English speaker.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Terminal in accordance with contractual requirements to the highest levels of availability and reliability.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and reporting for the terminal.
  • Ensure Health and Safety of all personnel and visitors.
  • Implement the Terminal Quality Management System and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with FSU Master and Cargo Control Room for LNG inventory and send-out requirements.
  • Control access to offshore facilities and manage marine traffic near the Offshore Facility.

Job description

Position Summary
  • The Shift Supervisors are responsible to the Operations Manager for the safe and effectiveoperation of the Bahrain LNG Import Terminal. The Shift Supervisors lead the operationsteams and are responsible for all aspects of Terminal operations whilst on duty. The ShiftSupervisors will be the senior personnel on site at weekends and out of hours.
  • The Shift Supervisors will have a background in hydrocarbon processing with experience in asupervisory/managerial role operating plants handling high pressure gas and cryogenicliquids, preferably LNG. Experience in marine terminal operations is preferred.
  • The Shift Supervisors will be appropriately trained and qualified to perform the duties ofPort Facility Security Officer (PFSO) and ensure that the offshore facility is operated inaccordance with the provisions of the ISPS Code and the Port Facility Security Plan.
  • The role works a shift system either onshore or offshore – the positions will beinterchangeable. Onshore will work a 3-shift system with offshore working a 4-shift systemto allow for the additional time required to travel offshore. Both locations will operate on arotating shift basis.
Major Responsibilities
  • Operation of the Terminal in accordance with contractual requirements to the highest levelsof availability and reliability ensuring quality and quantity of delivered natural gas is within contractual tolerances and requirements at all times.
  • Operation of the Terminal in accordance with Environmental considerations and restrictions
    including limiting and controlling emissions, and environmental reporting requirements.
  • The Health and Safety of all BLNG Import Terminal employees, Contractor’s employees,
    Customer and Client representatives and all other persons visiting the terminal or associated
    with the Operation and Maintenance of the Terminal.
  • Implementation of the Terminal Quality Management System, ensuring that the system is
    properly utilised, remains fit for purpose and continues to develop in accordance with the
    principles of continuous improvement.
  • Regular interface with the Floating Storage Unit (FSU) Master and Cargo Control Room to
    establish LNG inventory, advise daily send-out requirements, coordinate maintenance and
    other work, and maintain an effective and collaborative working relationship.
  • Control of access to the Offshore Facility jetty and regasification platform, ensuring that only
    authorised persons are permitted to land on BLNGIT offshore facilities and visitors are
    escorted throughout. Monitor and control marine traffic near the Offshore Facility, directlyBLNGIT resources and equipment to police exclusion zones and limit approaches by
    unauthorised vessels.
  • Supervise the arrival, berthing, unloading and departure of LNG carriers delivering LNG
    cargoes to Bahrain LNG Import Terminal.
  • Conduct safety inspections of LNG Carriers before discharge operations, chair pre-discharge
    meetings, act as Loading Master and ensure LNGCs meets Bahrain LNG Import Terminal
    requirements for safety and operational performance at all times.
  • Supervise the connection of Ship/Shore Link and connection, purging and cool down of
    Marine Loading Arms (MLA), Emergency Shut Down Testing and start of LNG Cargo transfer.
    Monitor the LNG Cargo unloading operation and supervise the draining purging and
    disconnection of the MLA and disconnection of the Ship/Shore Link for LNGC and FSU.
  • Training and professional development of operations staff to ensure that the Terminal is
    operated and maintained by fully trained and wholly competent staff at all times including
    mentoring personnel where applicable.
  • Control of Work including participation in Risk Assessments and Job Safety Analysis, issuing
    of Permit to Work, control of isolations and overrides/forces/bridges and coordination of
    maintenance and operations priorities to ensure safe and incident free operations at all
    times.
  • Chair planning meetings to coordinate work and assign priorities to minimise impact of
    routine maintenance and overhaul of equipment on operations send-out and terminal
    performance while maintaining safe and zero emission operations.
  • Responding to process upsets, trips and shutdowns as required, providing guidance and
    leadership to resume send-out and meet targets and obligations as soon as this may be
    safely achieved.
  • Lead the response to any emergency developing on, or near, Bahrain LNG Import Terminal
    implementing response and reporting as required by the Emergency Response Plan, and
    taking all actions required to minimise or mitigate risks to life, damage to property or
    environment and emissions to atmosphere.
  • Application of operational excellence and continuous improvement principles to enhance
    operational effectiveness whilst complying with Management of Change principles at all
    times.
  • All activities to be in accordance with strategies, policies, guidelines, plans, manuals, process
    procedures, standards, codes, protocols, prudent practices, legal requirements, best
    international industry practice and to the highest ethical standards.
