Job summary

ASTRON Certification Bahrain is seeking a Senior Lifting Inspector in Bahrain to lead inspections, test lifting equipment, and ensure compliance with national and international standards. You will mentor junior inspectors and deliver thorough reports with risk assessments.

Ideal candidates have 5–9 years of hands-on inspection experience, relevant certifications, and strong knowledge of welding, rigging, and load testing. Travel to client sites within Bahrain and nearby regions is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, or equivalent.
• 5 to 9 years of hands-on experience in lifting equipment inspection, testing, and compliance.
• Professional certification in lifting inspection (e.g., LEEA, IDLH, API 8C) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of welding, metallurgy, crane operations, rigging, and load testing methodologies.
• Proficiency with inspection documentation, certificates, and reporting software; attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to train and mentor junior staff.
• Ability to manage multiple inspections and prioritize safety-critical tasks under pressure.
• Willingness to travel within Bahrain and neighboring regions.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Plan, coordinate, and execute lifting equipment inspections, load tests, and certification activities in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., AS/MSA, API, EN, OSHA) and client requirements.
• Lead a team of inspectors, assign tasks, review reports, and ensure technical accuracy and compliance with quality management systems.
• Perform thorough visual inspections, non-destructive testing, and functional testing of slings, cranes, hoists, shackles, lifting beams, spreader bars, and associated lifting gear.
• Authorize issuance of inspection certificates and ensure timely submission of detailed reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Review maintenance records, service histories, and calibration data; identify trends and propose optimization and safety improvements.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and safety teams to plan outages, shutdowns, and lifting operations with minimal risk.
• Provide technical guidance on selection, use, and limits of lifting equipment, accessories, and rigging practices.
• Maintain compliance with local regulations and company policies; stay current with evolving industry standards and best practices.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses related to lifting activities, contributing to corrective action plans.
• Support business development by contributing to proposals, method statements, and scope define for lifting-related projects.
