Job summary
Appsierra Group in Al Khobar, KSA, seeks a Principal Platform Engineer, a senior individual contributor responsible for the platform's technical integrity, architecture, and critical implementation contributions.
You will mentor engineers, establish contribution standards, unblock hard technical work, and partner with engineering management and Product on sequencing and team health. This is not a management role.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience at senior IC level.
- Track record designing and delivering scalable, multi-tenant SaaS platforms or large distributed systems in production.
- Experience owning a platform lifecycle from architecture to evolution.
- Backend and distributed-systems judgment with hands-on in one or more languages (C#/.NET, Go, Python, Java, Node.js).
- Strong API design skills across REST/GraphQL and secure identity patterns (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSO).
- Cloud experience with GCP/AWS, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, and production ops.
- Experience with governance platforms (Palantir Foundry/AIP, Databricks Unity Catalog).
- Hands-on with LLM integration patterns (prompting, retrieval, tool calling, MCP, agent runtime, evaluation).
- Principal-level influence through writing, architecture facilitation, mentorship.
- Excellent English communication (written and spoken).
Responsibilities
- Design and implement production capabilities across the stack, including code, prototypes, reviews, debugging, and validation.
- Define and evolve domain models and ontology patterns linking workers, devices, sites, events, and workflows.
- Design governed data pipelines with contracts, lineage, replay behavior, quality checks, and ownership.
- Build secure, stable API and SDK surfaces for internal teams, partners, customers, and AI agents.
- Make pragmatic data-store choices across relational, time-series, streaming, search, and vector workloads.
- Drive the current C#/.NET backend while considering Go, Python, Java, Node.js, and TypeScript trade-offs.
- Raise engineering maturity through automated tests, CI gates, release safety, observability, and SLOs.
- Embed security and compliance into design and implementation (data residency, encryption, audit logging, access control, tenant isolation, responsible-AI guardrails).

Smart helmets, anchors, and gateways feed a real-time SaaS platform that supports worker location, safety compliance, automated mustering, and productivity analytics across major GCC projects.
As Principal Platform Engineer, you will be the senior individual contributor accountable for the platform's technical integrity. You will set architecture, make critical implementation contributions, and lead across boundaries through design quality and earned technical trust.
This is not an engineering-management role. You will not own hiring, performance cycles, or sprint administration. You will mentor engineers, establish contribution standards, unblock hard technical work, and partner with engineering management and Product on sequencing and team health.
