Job description

IT Systems Administrator and Education Technology Technician

We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and proactive IT Systems Administrator and Education Technology Technician to oversee and support the school’s day-to-day technology operations. The role will be responsible for managing the school’s Google Workspace for Education platform, acting as the system administrator for related services, and providing technical support across all major school technology systems and devices.

This position will also support the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ongoing management of the school’s student information system (SIS), staff and student devices, smart boards, laptops, desktop computers, printers, internet and network access, and other educational technology tools used across the school.

The successful candidate should be able to provide both hands‑on technical support and systems administration, while helping ensure that the school’s technology environment runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Google Workspace for Education Administration
  • Serve as the main administrator for the school’s Google Workspace for Education environment.
  • Manage user accounts for staff and students, including setup, suspension, password resets, group management, and permissions.
  • Administer Google Classroom, Google Meet, Drive, Gmail, Calendar, shared drives, and related services.
  • Set up and manage organizational units, user policies, security settings, and access controls.
  • Support the rollout and management of Education Plus features and other Google education tools.
  • Monitor system usage, storage, security, and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to login, email, Google Classroom, Meet, Drive access, and device syncing.
  • Support teachers and leadership in making effective use of the Google education platform.
School Technology and Device Support
  • Provide technical support for all school IT equipment and systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot:
    • Smart boards
    • Laptops
    • Desktop computers
    • Printers and scanners
    • Projectors
    • Classroom display systems
    • Staff and student devices.
    • School Wi‑Fi and internet‑connected devices.
  • Ensure all classroom technology is working properly and ready for daily use.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Coordinate repair and replacement of damaged or faulty equipment.
Student Information System (SIS) Management
  • Support the implementation, setup, and daily operation of the school’s Student Information System.
  • Manage student, staff, timetable, attendance, grading, and reporting related system functions as required.
  • Assist with user training and support for the SIS platform.Help ensure data accuracy, system integrity, and timely updates.
  • Liaise with SIS providers or vendors where needed for support and troubleshooting.
Network and Infrastructure Support
  • Assist with the monitoring and basic maintenance of the school’s network, internet connectivity, Wi‑Fi access, and shared systems.
  • Work with external IT vendors, internet service providers, or contractors when needed.
  • Help ensure stable connectivity across classrooms, offices, and shared learning spaces.
  • Maintain asset records and documentation for hardware, software, licenses, and warranties.
Technical Support and User Assistance
  • Provide day‑to‑day helpdesk support to staff, leadership, and authorized users.
  • Respond promptly to technical issues and minimize downtime.
  • Train staff on the use of school systems and digital tools where needed.
  • Support teachers in the use of classroom technology and hybrid learning systems.
  • Assist with school events, presentations, online meetings, and other technology‑related operational needs.
Security, Data Protection, and Compliance
  • Help maintain the security of school systems, user accounts, and devices.
  • Apply security settings, software updates, patches, antivirus, and access controls.
  • Monitor for technical risks, unauthorized access, and system misuse.
  • Support backup processes and data protection procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of school, staff, and student information at all times.
Strategic and Operational Support
  • Support the school in planning and improving its technology systems and digital learning environment.
  • Recommend practical solutions for improving efficiency, performance, and reliability.
  • Assist in the rollout of new school technology systems and upgrades.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures, user guides, and IT policies where required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in Google Workspace administration, networking, hardware support, or Microsoft/IT systems are an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace for Education administration.
  • Experience supporting school technology systems, education platforms, or similar environments preferred.
  • Experience with SIS platforms, educational software, or school administration systems is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of IT hardware, software, networking, account administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with smart classroom technologies is an advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant IT support and systems administration experience.
  • Previous experience in a school, training center, or educational institution is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting both administrative and classroom technology environments preferred.
