Job summary

Degree 6 is seeking a Technical Consultant based in Bahrain to provide expert technical support for sales on Formwork and Falsework projects. Job description

Our client is one of the global leaders in formwork and falsework, operating worldwide to deliver bespoke solutions to the construction industry. Due to successful results, the client is expanding its International team, specifically in the UAE.

Job Description

Salary £40,000 - £45,000 per annum depending on experience, plus an individual bonus & company bonus bringing the total package to approximately £66,000 per annum. Housing is provided or a housing allowance of up to £16k per year is offered, along with international medical cover, a company car or car allowance, pension, fully expensed dependants school fees, and two fully expensed return flights per year back to the UK.

Taking this into account, the package on offer for the successful person is exceptional. Due to UAE tax laws it is equivalent to earning a package of around £85,000 - £90,000 per annum in the UK, excluding the additional benefits listed above.

The position is for a Technical Consultant who will provide technical support and knowledge to the sales team on Formwork/Falsework projects they are bidding for. The consultant will work directly with the internal sales team and the company’s clients to provide support, answer technical issues and share experience on delivering successful projects.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensure that engineering work undertaken in KSA/Bahrain conforms to all Technical Company Engineering Risk Management Policies and Procedures as specified by the Chief Engineer of the Middle East and Division.
• Implement procedures across KSA and Bahrain that maintain controls, and review the engineering work undertaken to ensure it is compliant with the Divisional Engineering Risk Management Policy.
• Functionally manage engineering teams in KSA and Bahrain operations, involving the setting and reviewing of technical performance objectives and indicators.
• Those reporting to the Engineering Manager may include Team Leaders, Project Engineers, Temporary Works Engineers, Temporary Works Designers, and CAD Technicians.
• Manage direct reports in the engineering function of KSA and Bahrain consistently with International standards and IIP (Investors in People) principles.
• In conjunction with the HR Manager and local managers, determine training needs for technical staff by ensuring they are continually appraised according to the Middle East Engineering and Design Matrix.
• Conduct quarterly Toolbox Talks for technical staff in KSA and Bahrain.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of calculating wind loadings to BS6399:2 and ability to apply loads to non‑standard situations.
• Working knowledge of BS5975.
• Ability to carry out a full beam design to BS449 including stiffeners and combined stresses.
• Ability to design and detail complex specials to BS449.
• Ability to carry out frame analysis using Masterseries in 2D & 3D.
• Contribution to raising technical standards in conjunction with other senior staff.

Skills Required

• IT proficiency.
• Extensive experience with AutoCAD, Locus Optima, Euroschal, and Windows, and ability to train others.
• Knowledge of products and applications including Access, Formwork, Falsework, Support, and Clear Spanning, with the ability to apply them to non‑standard applications.
• Ability to train others and assist the Sales Team in the negotiation of contracts.
