Job summary

Raffles Al Areen Palace Bahrain is seeking a Bakery Assistant to join the Sr. Chef and Bakery team. You will assist in preparing and baking breads, pastries, cakes, and other items, follow recipes, maintain hygiene, and ensure quality.

You will support mise-en-place, manage storage, labeling, rotation, inventory help, and assist with buffet setups and events, while upholding HACCP standards and maintaining a clean workstation.

Qualifications

• Formal culinary education in baking and pastry arts.
• Solid baking knowledge across bread, pastry and cake production.
• 1–2 years of bakery or pastry kitchen experience.
• Familiarity with international and regional bakery items.
• Attention to precise measurements and timing.
• Hygiene and safety knowledge to maintain health standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, cakes, and other bakery items.
• Follow standard recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
• Support the Sr. Chef and Bakery team in daily mise-en-place.
• Ensure all baked products are consistent in quality, taste, and appearance.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling, and rotation of all bakery ingredients.
• Uphold hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards in accordance with HACCP guidelines.
• Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently (mixers, ovens, proofers, etc.).
• Assist with inventory control, stock replenishment, and waste reduction.
• Work closely with the team to ensure timely preparation for buffet setups, events, and daily service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work station at all times.

• Experience Level: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of prior experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen. This experience helps in developing the necessary skills and familiarity with bakery operations.


• Menu Knowledge: Familiarity with international and regional bakery items, as well as the ability to adapt recipes to suit guest preferences, showcases a well-rounded approach to baking.


• Attention to Detail: Precise measurements, timing, and presentation are crucial in baking. A keen eye for detail ensures that baked goods consistently meet the hotel's quality standards.


• Hygiene and Safety: Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is essential to maintain a safe and clean bakery environment, preventing cross-contamination and adhering to health standards.
