Job summary

Raffles Al Areen Palace Bahrain is seeking a dedicated bakery team member to assist in preparation and baking of breads, pastries, and cakes. You will follow standard recipes, support the Sr.

Chef in daily mise-en-place, and help ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation. Maintain proper storage and labeling of ingredients, uphold HACCP hygiene and safety standards, and work safely with mixers, ovens, and proofers.

Qualifications

• Culinary education in baking and pastry arts.
• 1–2 years bakery or pastry kitchen experience.
• Knowledge of diverse breads, pastries, and decorating techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, and cakes.
• Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specs.
• Support the Sr. Chef in daily mise-en-place and maintain cleanliness.
• Ensure quality, taste, and appearance of products.
• Maintain storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
• Adhere to HACCP hygiene and safety standards.
• Operate bakery equipment safely (mixers, ovens, proofers).
• Assist with inventory control and waste reduction.
• Collaborate with team for buffet and events prep.
• Keep workstation clean and organized.

Job Description

• Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, cakes, and other bakery items.
• Follow standard recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
• Support the Sr. Chef and Bakery team in daily mise-en-place.
• Ensure all baked products are consistent in quality, taste, and appearance.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling, and rotation of all bakery ingredients.
• Uphold hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards in accordance with HACCP guidelines.
• Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently (mixers, ovens, proofers, etc.).
• Assist with inventory control, stock replenishment, and waste reduction.
• Work closely with the team to ensure timely preparation for buffet setups, events, and daily service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work station at all times.

Qualifications

• Culinary Education: A formal culinary education, such as a diploma or degree in baking and pastry arts, provides a strong foundation in baking techniques, ingredient handling, and food safety.
• Baking Expertise: Candidates should possess a solid understanding of various baking methods, including bread, pastry, and cake production, along with knowledge of different doughs, fillings, and decorating techniques.
• Experience Level: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of prior experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen. This experience helps in developing the necessary skills and familiarity with bakery operations.
• Menu Knowledge: Familiarity with international and regional bakery items, as well as the ability to adapt recipes to suit guest preferences, showcases a well-rounded approach to baking.
• Attention to Detail: Precise measurements, timing, and presentation are crucial in baking. A keen eye for detail ensures that baked goods consistently meet the hotel's quality standards.
• Hygiene and Safety: Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is essential to maintain a safe and clean bakery environment, preventing cross-contamination and adhering to health standards.
• Team Player Attitude: The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen environment, taking direction from senior chefs, and contributing positively to the team dynamic is highly valued.
