Job summary

We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Commis 1 Baker Decorator to join our production team. You will support baking operations while assisting with basic cake decoration to ensure orders meet quality, presentation, and freshness standards.

In this cross-trained role you will be part of the production operation responsible for preparing and baking products while ensuring quality and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in baking, pastry, or a similar production environment.
• Hands-on baking experience, including mixing, portioning, and baking.
• Basic cake decorating skills, including piping and finishing.
• Comfortable moving between decorating and baking tasks based on production requirements.
• Consistent and reliable technique with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Reliable, flexible, and willing to support different areas of production when needed.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes, processes, and quality guidelines consistently.
• Passion for baking and creating high-quality products.

Responsibilities

• Carry out baking-line activities including mixing portioning baking and other production tasks.
• Assist with basic cake decoration including piping drawing and finishing.
• Support senior decorators with cake orders when required.
• Follow standard recipes decorating guidelines and production processes consistently.
• Move between decorating and baking sections based on production volume and operational requirements.
• Ensure products are completed accurately and to the required quality and presentation standards.
• Maintain consistent baking and decorating techniques across different orders.
• Follow food safety hygiene sanitation and workplace safety standards at all times.
• Monitor ingredients and materials and flag shortages or production issues to the relevant section lead.
• Work collaboratively with the wider production team to ensure orders are completed on time.
• Maintain a clean organized and efficient working environment.
