Job summary

Imec, located at its Leuven, Belgium headquarters, seeks an Ultrasound Technology and Microsystems Specialist to build, drive and grow our acoustics platform. You will influence health, industry and compute sectors through design, metrology and imaging advancements, shaping a long-term strategy for the group.

The role requires leadership in translational ultrasound research, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

PhD or equivalent required in physics, electrical/biomedical engineering or related field.
4+ years of relevant professional ultrasound experience if holding a Master’s degree.
Proven experience with ultrasound systems and acoustic transducer technology.

Responsibilities

Drive development of ultrasound and optoacoustical microsystems from transducer concepts to imaging applications.
Design next-gen ultrasound transducers from low-frequency MUT to high-frequency BAW and SAW.
Characterize transducers acoustically, electrically, mechanically, and optically.
Provide cross-project support using acoustics, imaging, and/or acoustic streaming expertise.
Maintain literature knowledge at a high standard.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.
Contribute to long-term vision and strategy for the group.
