Akkodis seeks a Test Rig Engineer to support automotive validation efforts, operating advanced test rigs and developing strategies behind them. You will integrate mechanics, dynamics, HV electricity, electronics, and control systems to ensure meaningful, reliable tests.

You will implement test procedures from requirements, maintain test benches, and drive automation using Python, Matlab/Simulink, LabVIEW, and CANoe/CANape. Fluency in English is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Automotive, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 1–5 years of experience in testing, test rig operation, test bench development, or industrial automation.
• Hands-on experience with test benches, instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
• Basic to intermediate programming skills (Python, C/C++, Matlab, LabVIEW).
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.

• Analyse raw measurement data and prepare clear test reports.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and software teams to resolve system-level issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing standards and roadmaps.

The profile

We are looking for a Test Rig Engineer to support one of our major clients in the automotive industry.

In this role, you will be at the heart of the validation process, operating complex test benches and developing the strategies behind them. You’ll combine mechanics, dynamics, HV electricity, electronics, communication protocols, and controls to ensure that each test is meaningful, reliable, and repeatable.

Your responsibilities include:

• Execute and monitor tests on components, subsystems, and full driveline prototypes using dedicated test rigs.
• Convert functional or high-level requirements into concrete, executable test procedures.
• Operate, configure, and maintain test benches (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, HV) ensuring uptime, safety, and measurement accuracy.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve test rig capability, automation, and robustness.
• Enhance and automate test processes using dedicated tools (Python, Matlab/Simulink, LabView, CANoe/CANape).
• Diagnose rig issues (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls) and implement corrective actions.
• Analyse raw measurement data, consolidate results, and prepare clear and meaningful test reports.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, controls, and software teams to resolve system-level issues and support design validation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing standards, safety procedures, and rig development roadmaps.

Background

Master’s degree in Automotive, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent through experience.

Must Have

• 1–5 years of experience in testing, test rig operation, test bench development, or industrial automation.
• Strong understanding of mechanics, dynamics, electricity (including HV fundamentals), electronics, communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay…), and control systems.
• Hands‑on experience with test benches, instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
• Basic to intermediate programming skills (Python, C/C++, Matlab, LabView).
• Analytical mindset, structured approach, and strong problem-solving abilities.
• A proactive personality with the ability to drive ideas, propose strategies, and challenge the status quo when needed.
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.

Nice to Have

• Experience with drivetrain/transmission systems or hybrid/electric powertrain components.
• Knowledge of validation tools such as CANape, INCA, LabView, Vector tools.
• Exposure to HIL/KIL/GHIL environments or automation frameworks.
• Experience working in structured or Agile engineering projects.
• Willingness to relocate and travel within Europe for test facilities.
