Job summary

ITS Group Belgium is seeking a Technical Writer to support a team responsible for a large fleet of lifting and crane equipment in a highly regulated industrial environment. The writer will manage technical files, write procedures, work instructions, manuals and guides, and ensure traceability across multiple projects.

The role requires strong document management skills, reading drawings/schematics, and the ability to coordinate with internal teams, suppliers and manufacturers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline as described.
• Experience in a technical environment and ability to read drawings/schematics.
• Familiarity with document control, versioning, and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the documentation focal point for the lifting equipment team and ensure accuracy and traceability.
• Produce, maintain, and improve technical documentation including procedures, work instructions, manuals, and guides.
• Prepare and manage technical files for maintenance, repairs, replacements, and revamping activities.
• Develop modification dossiers and follow administrative processes for engineering changes.
• Collect technical information from internal stakeholders, suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Coordinate document control, archiving, and version management across projects.
• Support technical experts and planners during project preparation and execution.

Our client is looking for a Technical Writer to support a team responsible for a large fleet of lifting and crane equipment operating in a highly regulated industrial environment. Many of these installations have been in service for more than forty years, creating ongoing needs for maintenance, repairs, replacements, revamping activities, and engineering modifications.

The selected consultant will act as the documentation focal point within the team, ensuring that all technical and administrative documentation is accurate, structured, traceable, and up to date. The role combines technical understanding, document management, change control, and project support activities.

Your mission:

• Serve as the documentation specialist for the lifting equipment team.
• Produce, maintain, and improve technical documentation.
• Prepare and manage technical files related to maintenance, repairs, replacements, and revamping activities.
• Develop and follow up modification dossiers through the required administrative process.
• Collect technical information from internal stakeholders, suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Ensure document control, version management, archiving, and traceability.
• Support technical experts and planners during project preparation and execution.
• Translate complex technical information into clear and usable documentation.

Your activities:

Technical Documentation

• Write and update procedures.
• Write and update work instructions.
• Write and update technical manuals and guides.
• Ensure documentation remains accurate and aligned with operational requirements.

Technical File Management

• Build technical dossiers for:
  • Maintenance activities
  • Repairs
  • Equipment replacement
  • Revamping projects
• Consolidate technical information from multiple sources.

Change Management

• Follow administrative approval workflows.
• Maintain documentation linked to engineering changes.

Document Control

• Manage document versions and revisions.
• Ensure proper archiving practices.
• Maintain full traceability of technical documentation.
• Guarantee consistency and reliability of documentation records.

Project Support

• Support technical experts.
• Assist with project preparation and follow-up.
• Coordinate documentation deliverables throughout project execution.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Interface with internal technical departments.
• Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Act as the reference contact for documentation-related matters within the team.

You have the following skills:

Must Have

Education & Technical Background

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanics, or equivalent experience.

Professional Experience

• Experience in a technical environment.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Maintenance
  • Work preparation / planning
  • Technical documentation
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Ability to read and understand technical schematics.
• Ability to interpret manufacturer documentation.
• Experience with document management systems.
• Good command of Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to create clear and structured technical documents.
• Knowledge of document control, version management, and traceability principles.

Languages

• Fluent Dutch, both spoken and written.
• Ability to read and understand English technical documentation.

Compliance

• Willingness to undergo site access and security screening procedures.

• Knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, inspection requirements, and certification processes related to lifting equipment.
• Experience in heavy industry, energy, nuclear, process industry, or highly regulated technical environments.
• Experience with equipment revamping and engineering modification projects.
• You have at least 3 years of professional experiences in IT
• If you are at least fluent in FR/ENG or NL/ENG it’s best
• You’re eager to learn, motivated and curious
